We have been working on Geography skills in Social Studies. This week we will be finishing up on the physical Geography piece.  We will start the week with an Escape Room to review basic geography skills.  Then we will move to working on how different civilizations were affected by their environment.  There will be a review on Thursday and I will assess on Friday what your child has learned about Geography.  After the assessments, students will explore some places on Google Earth!

August 15-19

Last week we focused on the 5 Themes of Geography by taking notes, creating a flip book and applying our knowledge by reading postcards and match which theme is being addressed.

Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies!

Throughout the course of the year we will be studying History, Geography, Economics and Civics.  Last week the students began creating their own Island by choosing a theme.  They were encouraged to use landforms, bodies of water and anything that would be related to Geography.  The purpose of this activity is for the students to show me their knowledge of Geography.  We will share the completed projections in small groups on Monday.
