Weekly Update - Oct. 14-16

Our theme for October is Bully Prevention

-Watch Lesson Video: Notebook setup & Q2 expectations/procedures

-Set up your notebook (according to directions in video):

  • Number the pages
  • Insert tabs
  • Paste Q2 calendars into each section (T/Th hybrid students will receive these at school on Thrs. 10/15)
  • Table of Contents
  • Weekly To-Do List for each subject

-Watch Video: Using Flipgrid

-No matter what style of learning you are part of this quarter, you are all full-time students.  That means you have lessons and assignments all 5 weekdays!

-What does that mean if I’m a Hybrid student?

  • 2 days at school with in-person instruction and assignments
  • 3 days of online learning at home with prerecorded lesson videos and independent assignments
  • Things you need to have every day, at home and at school: Interactive Notebook, Travel Journal for Reading, colored folders with printed copies for notebooks
  • On school days – bring a lunch that’s ready to eat (NO MICROWAVE), a snack, and a water bottle
  • Do NOT bring computers between home and school
  • Do NOT bring any stuffies or toys
  • If I am sick and there is no sub to cover the day, you will be emailed as soon as I know, so please check emails daily! It will then be an online day for you.

-What does that mean if I’m an Online student?

  • Zoom Advocacy with Valenza (see her email for details, let me know if you did not receive this)
  • Prerecorded lesson videos and independent assignments every day, Monday-Friday, all located on Teams.

-There will be office hours on Fridays through Zoom and that information will be posted to our Advocacy Team.

-There will not be any birthday treats allowed this quarter.

Late/Missing Work:

-All assignments close after two weeks on Teams. If it is being turned in past that you will need to reach out to me so that we can discuss why it is so late and so that I can open the assignment back up for you.

-If you are absent on an in-person day or are sick at home on an online day, and you cannot do your schoolwork, then you need to watch the instructional videos and makeup the work within two weeks.

Original Works:

It is that time of year for our annual ‘Original Works’ fundraiser. For those who are new to the school or for those who have forgotten – because of all the things we have to remember these days – this is a fundraiser where kids create artwork in the “classroom”, and families have an opportunity to purchase products with their creative artwork on them. The school gets a percentage of all sales. This is typically our 3rd largest single fundraiser of the year, but with things being so different, it has the potential to be one of our largest fundraisers for the current school year.

*Please see the Look What’s Coming and the Parent Ordering Form attachments for more details.

Important Original Works Dates:

Now until October 16th – Kids will create their artwork.

October 19th through November 2nd – Families will be able to order products on the Original Works website.
