We Are Excited for Summer!
Summer is here! We hope you are enjoying sunshine, fun, and time to relax with your family.
As you get ready for the next school year, we are here to help. This newsletter shares useful information to help your family start the year feeling prepared and confident.
Inside, you’ll find reminders about important dates, ways to connect with the Westgate community, and tips for getting ready. No school supplies are needed. Starting in July, you will begin receiving the Westgate Wire, our monthly newsletter with school news, events, and updates.
We are excited to welcome your family and look forward to a great year together!

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
When: July 31, 2026, 4:00–6:00 PM
A night of fun and connections before school gets started! You won't want to miss this chance to get to know your fellow parents and guardians. Come by to pick up car tags, tour the school, have some fun, and eat at great food trucks as we all have one last HURRAH! for the end of summer before classes start on Monday, August 3rd.

BOOHOO WOOHOO BREAKFAST
When: August 3, 2026, 8:00–9:00 AM
The BooHoo WooHoo Breakfast is open to all parents/guardians right after dropping off your kiddos off on the first day of school. We know it's both a happy and sad feeling that they are just starting in or are going back to school. Our events committee provides coffee, assorted pastries, and fruit as a way for parents to connect and sigh together. It is also a great way for new Westgate parents and guardians to meet your more seasoned counterparts.

Infinite Campus: Keep Your Contact Information Up to Date
Westgate shares important school information by email and text message. To receive these messages, your contact information must be correct in Infinite Campus (IC).
Infinite Campus also lets you see important details about your student, such as grades, attendance, and enrollment.

How to Access Infinite Campus
If you have not already done so, please create your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. This account allows you to:
- View your student’s grades
- Check attendance
- Review enrollment information
- Update your email and phone number
- You can create your Parent Portal account using the registration email sent to you.

Online Check In
Adams 12 Online Check‑In will open in July.
You can use the Parent Portal Quick Guide for help setting up your account. If you have questions or need assistance, you may also call or email Rochelle Goforth.
Primary households will receive an email from Adams 12. All families will need to complete online check-in (even if you just completed the enrollment process). To complete online check‑in, you must have an Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal account. If you do not have an account yet, please create one as soon as possible.

Westgate sends important updates by email and text message. These messages may include:
- School closures due to weather or emergencies
- Important school updates
- The monthly newsletter
- Key dates and reminders
- Information about hot lunch, clubs, and special events
Please make sure your email address is correct in Infinite Campus so you receive messages on time.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES & FEES
Supplies to Bring from Home
Families only need to provide the following items:
- Backpack
- Water bottle
- Lunch box (if your student brings lunch from home)
All other school supplies are provided by Westgate!
Student Fees
Student fees help cover school supplies, a school laptop, software and technology licenses, field trips, and guest speakers.
- K–8 students: $260
- High school students: $250
- No fee for seniors attending FRCC full time
Fee payment portals will open closer to the start of the school year. Fees are due by August 31st. We will send emails and announcements once payment information is available.
Paying Student Fees
We recommend setting up your PayForIt account early, so you are ready to pay fees in July.

Transportation Options for Families
We want families to know about the transportation options available at Westgate. Many families choose to drive their students to school. If you plan to do so, please follow our Car Line procedures for drop‑off and pick‑up. These procedures help keep traffic moving smoothly and keep everyone safe.
We also encourage families to consider other options, such as SchoolPool and FlexRide. Using these options can help reduce traffic around the school.

CAR LINE
We have clear Car Line procedures to support safe and efficient drop‑off and pick‑up times.Please review the Car Line diagram and the information below before the school year begins.
If you have a question that is not answered in the FAQs, please email the communications office.

Car Line Pick‑Up Details
- Families may pick up their Car Line number at Back‑to‑School Night. This number shows Westgate staff that you are approved to pick up your student.
- Please display the number tag inside your windshield. Staff will use the number to notify your student’s classroom when you arrive.
- Each household will receive two hangtags with your family number. Your family number will stay the same each year.
- If you have more than one student, please use the car line for your youngest student’s grade.
- If someone else will pick up your student or you are part of a carpool, please give them one of your hangtags.
- If the person picking up your student does not have a hangtag, you must contact the school before dismissal.
- Please fill out the Student Pick-Up Authorization if you need to authorize a person that will pick-up your student on a regular basis.
- Please email [email protected] to share pickup changes.
Parking

- Student and visitor parking is only allowed in the FRONT parking lot.
- High School students who drive will need to fill out a Parking Permit Application.

SCHOOLPOOL - CAR POOL COORDINATION
Westgate partners with Way to Go SchoolPool to help families find and organize carpools for the 2026–2027 school year.
SchoolPool is a service of Way to Go, a federally funded program from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG).
How SchoolPool Works:
- Families must sign up using a computer (not a phone or tablet).
- Use the Westgate SchoolPool registration link to join.
- Your information is only shared with families at Westgate. Each school has its own secure link.
- Families contact each other through the SchoolPool system to plan carpools.
Important Safety Information:
Westgate and SchoolPool do not run background checks, check driver’s licenses, or confirm insurance. Families are responsible for choosing carpool partners and making sure their insurance covers carpooling. SchoolPool does not provide drivers, vehicles, or insurance.

RTD and FLEX RIDE
RTD offers discounted transportation for students. RTD also has a Zero Fare Youth program, which allows students under age 19 to ride for free.
What Students Need to Ride for Free
Students may be asked to show one of the following:
- Current school ID
- Valid government‑issued ID
- Permanent resident card
- Military ID or dependent card with date of birth
- RTD Youth Discount card

BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VOLUNTEERING
There are many ways to get involved with Westgate Community School.
Visitors & Volunteers:
Join our active parent community at Westgate Community School! Your time and energy are as valuable as financial contributions. If you'd like to volunteer for school events or learn more about opportunities, complete the volunteer form. Background checks are required for safety, and we partner with Sterling Volunteers. Your confidentiality is assured.
Events Committee: Help our events committee! You do not have to volunteer at every event or be at every meeting to make a difference! You don't need any experience in events or fundraising either, just a willingness to be part of the team. You will need to fill out the Volunteer Form and complete a background check.
School Accountability Committee (SAC): This committee is to inform, encourage, and provide opportunities for parents and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of WCS’s instructional program and quality improvement processes. Members also provide information, analysis, and strategic planning recommendations to the:
- Westgate Community School Board of Directors and Executive Director
- Adams 12 Five Star District
- Westgate Community School community

SUMMER CAMPS & FUN
CHAMPIONS: Before/After School Care & Summer Camp
Champions has a great solution for busy working families, activities that combine fun and learning, together with the safety and convenience of a high-quality program right inside Westgate Community School.
- Affordable before and after-school care that you can customize as you need it.
- Summer Camp program for 5–12-year-olds that runs from June 2–August 1, 2026, from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Sign up soon to reserve your spot.
- Summer camp is a great option to help transition your soon-to-be kindergartener into a school-like atmosphere.
