Join the Westgate School Board of Directors!

The Westgate Governance Board of Directors will have 3 seats open for a 3-year term. Joining the board is a fun way to make a difference in our fabulous WCS community.
Interested parents should provide a short 5 sentence biography and answer the following questions below by March 15, 2017 to michelle.zeleshahn@westgateschool.org. Statements will be published on the school website for the WCS Community to review. All candidates will participate in a Meet and Greet on April 10, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. before the regular board meeting.
The commitment is approximately 10-20 hours a month of work and includes attendance at Board meetings (twice a month on Tuesday evenings throughout the year). Prior experience is not necessary - we are interested in candidates with all backgrounds who want to help and be involved with our school. Please feel free to contact Michelle at michelle.zeleshahn@westgateschool.org with any questions. Board documents are available for review at westgateschool.org under the Board of Directors tab.
1.       What makes Westgate’s mission and vision meaningful to you and your family?

2.       Why are you interested in serving on the Westgate Board of Directors? What are your perceptions about the roles and duties of the Board of Directors at a charter school?

3.       What area(s) would you be most interested in working on (i.e., finance/budget, events, fundraising, recruitment, legal, building improvements, school accountability, policy, etc.), and what skills and experience do you have that would allow you to be successful in these endeavors?

4.       What is your availability to attend regular board meetings and contribute additional time to board-related activities? Elected board members typically serve for a three-year term, beginning in July of the year elected. Board meetings are once or twice a month on Tuesday evenings from 6:30–9pm (approximately). Each board member is also asked to serve on standing and/or ad hoc committees that have additional but variable time requirements outside of the regular board meetings and to attend presentations/events (e.g., Executive Director’s address, professional development, Westgate graduation, etc.) that may fall outside of the school day or board/committee meetings.
