Environmental Education Volunteer Opportunities
Chicken Tender Program
Our Chicken Tender program is a unique family volunteer opportunity that helps care for Westgate's farm animals, including goats, chickens, and our barn cat. After a brief training, families can sign up for morning or evening care shifts throughout the year. Most shifts take less than 30 minutes and involve feeding, watering, and checking on the animals. As a bonus, volunteers are welcome to take home any eggs collected during their shift!

A few important notes:
- Students must be accompanied by an adult.
-
Younger children typically do not enter the enclosures for safety reasons.
- Volunteers will receive training and ongoing support before signing up independently.
In-School Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to support students during the school day, including:
- Classroom support and project assistance
- Reading with students
- Helping prepare materials for teachers
- Field trip chaperoning
- Assisting with school events and special programs
Please note that in-school volunteers must have a background check on file before volunteering.
If any of these opportunities interest you, please complete the volunteer interest form and we'll connect you with the appropriate committee, program, or staff member.
