  • Listen to story of Larry the Lion (this is in student’s lapbook pieces packet) and purpose of our lessons
  • Learn about the city and take notes to answer questions on the note page (What is a city? Who are the leaders of a city? How is the city funded? What is the history of cities in Colorado? How are cities formed? What powers do cities have?)
  • Circle the city that Westgate belongs to on the Colorado city map.
  • Exit Ticket: List 3 facts about the city, which is one of the local government types.

  • Pick a local government type that you want to represent during our class discussion
  • Pick a person from that local government type (see list for suggestions) that you want to pretend to be on 4/21.
  • Create a costume for that person. You will wear this to school on our final class discussion day (Thursday, 4/21).
