  4. Learn aboyut prefixes and suffixes (see video). Review page 7 from yesterday's assignment.

  6. Create a writing plan in your writing notebook for the question: What is the author's point of view in Irma Rangel?. (Do not write the response, just plan it) See video for guidance. 
  7. Learn about compound words and create compound words with the class.

Wednesday 4/14

I will be able to write an essay to answer a paired text prompt question using a graphic organizer to plan first.

  3. Read Readworks.org story: "Who Are Citizens of the United States?" (Our class code is WFNAT3 )
  4. Reread Irma Ragel from your Wonders book, pages 2-5
  5. Make a graphic organizer plan to answer the essay prompt: What can someone do to be a good citizen? Use both texts to support your answer. (Complete this on a sheet of paper).

Thursday 4/15

Thursday 4/8

I can write a literary response that would score higher than my pre-test scored.

  • Create a top-down graphic organizer for the assigned paired text on Readworks.org Eruption in the Congo and Mexico’s Volcano of Fire from Readworks
  • Write an essay that answers the prompt question: Is either of these stories more realistic than the other? Why or why not? Support your answer using details from both texts.
  • If you finish early, take the CMAS practice test. Make sure to write your answers on the bubble answer sheet as CMAS practice test does not save your responses. (CMAS practice test)

Friday 4/9

I will read and answer questions from a paired reading text.

  • Take pre-test on vocabularycity.com (These will not be the students words for next week but will allow me to place students at the correct spelling list.
