Math Class Week of October 14th-16th

Week 7 

MATH– Engage NY/4th grade Mid-Module Assessment & Module 1 Lesson 11 

*Please note that these assignments have been ‘pushed’ to students on OneNote.  They will be pushed as needed so they are easier to find each day.  Students will receive explicit instruction on how to access these documents and all of these lessons will have instructional videos recorded for the online students.  In-School students will have access to the videos via Teams at home if they need to review the lessons as well as the extra practice worksheets should any students need to work on them.* 

Objective:  Use place value understanding to fluently add multi-digit whole numbers using the standard addition algorithm, and apply the algorithm to solve word problems using tape diagrams.

Students will be completing the Module 1 Mid-Module Assessment.  Online students can find this in their Math Teams Class Notebook under the quizzes tab.  In school students will be completing this Assessment in class today. also need to complete the Exit Ticket for Module 1 Lesson 10. This is found in the “exit ticket” tab under their name tab in the Class Notebook in Teams.   

Thursday –  

Module 1 Lesson 11  Students will be working on the worksheets for Module 1 Lesson 11. This is found in the “Classwork” tab under their name tab in the Class Notebook in Teams.  We will discuss the standard algorithm for addition into the hundred thousands place value. There are Kahn Academy Videos posted on the Math Teams page to assist for this lesson and the Presentation as well as the Instruction recording will be posted. Students will also complete the Exit Ticket for Lesson 11. This is found in the “exit ticket” tab under their name tab in the Class Notebook in Teams. OPTIONAL EXTRA PRACTICE   Students can complete the extra practice worksheets for Module 1 Lesson 11, if needed to gain further understanding. Objective:  Read and write multi-digit numbers using base ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.

Objective:  Compare numbers based on meanings of the digits using >, <, or = to record the comparison.

Objective:  Find 1, 10, and 100 thousand more and less than a given number.

Monday – NO ZOOM MEETINGS  In Person Learning Day.  We will be working on Module 1 Lesson 4 during our in class time this week.  Students will do the classwork and Exit Ticket here at school.  I will post the extra practice sheets for Lesson 4 in the “Extra Practice” tab in the Teams class notebook.  I will also give an overview of Lessons 5 and 6. If your student is not attending this day there are the Kahn Academy Videos posted on the Math Teams page to assist with the lesson.

Tuesday – NO ZOOM MEETINGS – Module 1 Lesson 5  Students will be working on the worksheets for Module 1 Lesson 5. This is found in the “Classwork” tab under their name tab in the Class Notebook in Teams.  We will continue using place value expanded form to solve multiplication problems as well as the symbols >,<, and =. There are the Kahn Academy Videos posted on the Math Teams page to assist for this lesson.

Objectives:  Interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison.  Recognize a digit represents 10 times the value of what it represents in the place to its right.

Tuesday –  -Students should finish any Lesson 1 or 2 classwork that was not finished last week in their individual Teams notebook.  Students need to take the Math Initial Placement Assessment in MobyMax.  Sign in as a student at www.mobymax.com, select the MATH icon and take the assessment.  If they have already completed the placement assessment, then they can work on their assigned lessons in MobyMax.

Hello All 
Welcome back! Well as back as we can get for now.  I am actually looking forward to this year and to working with you through all the challenges that it will bring. 
We will have our first Advocacy Meeting on Friday August 21st at 11:00 a.m.

For the orientation day on Monday, please remember to send your student with a lunch that does not require a microwave.  Your students will be in groups of no more than 7 in each classroom and we will be following this schedule:
