This week students will begin our coding unit on www.code.org and will continue practicing keyboarding on www.typing.com
 
Student Objectives:
  • Typing - I can type on the keyboard while using the home row keys, sitting up straight, with my feet flat on the floor.
  • Coding - I can use directional arrows to move a character from one place to the next. 
  • Coding - I can use collect blocks to collect items throughout my puzzle.

Week of October 19th - Elwood

Welcome to the second week of Quarter two! This week we will continue learning about online safety, practice the home row keys with typing.com and learn a little bit about coding!
 
Monday:
We will complete the posted assignment in typing.com. Once we have finished typing.com we will move over SeeSaw and complete an online safety activity!
 
Tuesday:
We will begin class with a typing warmup on typing.com. We will then move over to SeeSaw and learn about digital footprints and complete the digital footprint activity.
 
Wednesday:
We will begin class with a typing warmup on typing.com. We will then move to Seesaw and learn about coding! Students will learn how to use arrows to give directions in a program and move an object from one place to the next.
 
Thursday:
We will begin class with a typing warm up. We will then move to seesaw and continue learning about coding. Students will use arrows and verbal directions to move objects from one place to the next.

Welcome back after fall break! This week is the start of your technology rotation. This week we will set up our typing.com accounts and learn about Digital Citizenship!

Welcome to specials! Let's set up your typing.com accounts using the link below. Once your account is set up, we will complete the first assignment that is posted. 
 
 
Thursday:
Today we will learn about digital citizenship. Please go to Seesaw to see today's posted assignment. Once your assignment is completed you may play, Be Internet Awesome, a digital citizenship game built by Google.

Week of August 31st

This week we will move into our typing lessons. Together we will create our typing accounts and begin with our beginner typing course. 
 
For this grade level, we will be posting thorough feedback on Seesaw and other programs used regarding skills and learning. Your student will receive one final grade at the end of the quarter in IC, and until then, I will be engaging through live sessions and lots of individual feedback!
 
Monday:
Live session from 1:00 - 1:30. During this class we will set up our typing accounts, review home row keys and start our first typing lesson.

Tuesday:

August 24th - 28th

Welcome to the first week of specials!
 
This week we will settle into our new routine, get to know one another, go over rules and procedures and, begin our first activity around digital citizenship. 
 
Our class will meet every Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 - 1:30. 
 
Our zoom link and password is in Mr. Gales SeeSaw class page under the specials folder and I have also emailed the link, password and zoom schedule to all parents. 
 
Monday:
 
Students will join their first technology specials zoom class and learn our rules and procedures for the quarter. Students will be introduced to digital citizenship and how to stay safe online. Students were given a digital citizenship story book that they should begin working on after class.
 
Tuesday:
 
Students will continue to work on their digital citizenship book. 
 
Wednesday:
 
Students will continue discussing digital citizenship and show their knowledge of how to be safe online by creating their own digital citizenship story. 
 
Thursday:
 
Students will continue to work on their digital citizenship book. Students should have their book finished by Monday August 31st.
