Welcome to quarter 3 and Happy New Year! This week we only have one day of online classes and will begin our full schedule next week. 
 
Our class meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:45 - 2:15. Please see Teams for the zoom link and password.
 
Thursday - Live class meets from 1:45 - 2:15. Today we will meet for the first time, get to know one another and have an introduction to technology and online safety! 

Week of December 7th - Nieto

This week students will begin our 3D modeling project with www.tinkercad.com and practice typing with www.typing.com 
 
Student Objectives:
  • Typing - I can type on the keyboard while using the home row keys, sitting up straight, with my feet flat on the floor.
  • 3D modeling - I can use a 3D modeling program to build structures while using the engineering design process.

This week students will continue coding our Flowlab games and practice typing.

  • Flowlab - I can use input and output code to animate a video game with multiple commands and behaviors.
  • Flowlab - I can add behaviors to multiple objects to make them interact with one another.

Welcome to the third week of quarter 2! This week we are moving back online and will begin our Flowlab projects. 
 
Our class meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:45 - 2:15. The zoom link will be posted on teams under files in the class materials folder.

Tuesday:
Our class meets live today on Zoom between 1:45 - 2:15. Today we will login to our Flowlab accounts and begin our videogame coding project.
 
Wednesday:
Continue working on your Flowlab game.
 
Thursday:
Our class meets live today between 1:45 - 2:15 on Zoom. We will continue working on our Flowlab projects. 

Week of October 19th - Nieto

Welcome to the second week of Quarter 2! This week we will practice typing with typing.com and begin our digital room project. 
 
Monday:
We will begin with a typing warm up on typing.com. Once our warmup is complete we will start our digital room project in PowerPoint.
 
Tuesday:
Class will begin with a typing warmup in our typing.com accounts. Students will continue creating their digital rooms in PowerPoint.
 
Wednesday:
Class will begin with a typing warmup in our typing.com accounts. Students will continue working on their digital rooms and creating interactive objects in their rooms using hyperlinks with pictures.
 
Thursday:
Class will begin with a typing warmup in our typing.com accounts. Students will continue working on their digital rooms and will create a personal avatar character to add to their rooms.

Week of September 21st

We will continue with live classes this week!

Tuesday: Live class from 1:45 - 2:15. We will work on flowlab during this class, answer any questions and show our games.
 
Wednesday: Continue working on flowlab.
 
Thursday: Live class from 1:45 - 2:15. We will work on flowlab during this class, answer any questions and show our games.

Week of September 14th

This week specials does NOT meet for live classes. Students will be back in the building one day this week for in person learning. Please reach out to your advocate if you do not know what day you are coming into the building for in person learning. 
 
This weeks tech activity: please continue working on your flowlab games. If you do not know your login, please email me. Your games must tell a story. You must have 5 levels minimum but you can do more if you would like. 
 
Level 1 - Easy
Level 2 - Easy/Medium
Level 3 - Medium
Level 4 - Medium/Difficult
Level 5 - Difficult
 
Focus on building the setting of your game (ex. backgrounds, characters, obstacles, the story line) and we will move into behaviors and actions next week. Use the tutorial videos under the help tab and please reach out to me with any questions.
 
Our classes will meet again during the week of September 21st. 

Week of September 7th

This week we will begin our coding unit with Flowlab.

Live session from 1:45 - 2:15. During this live session we will set up our flowlab accounts and begin building our first game. 
 
Wednesday:
Continue working on your flowlab game.
 
Thursday: 
Live session from 1:45 - 2:15. During this live session we will continue to work on our flowlab games, adding new features and layers. 
 

Week of August 31st

This week we will continue working on our digital rooms in PowerPoint.  
 
This weeks agenda:
 
Monday:
Live session from 1:45 - 2:15. During our live session we will continue adding to our digital rooms in Power Point. We will start adding objects to our book shelves and hyperlinking them to important links we will use this quarter. 
 
Tuesday:
Continue working on your digital room making sure the objects are spaced appropriately and your room contains detail. If you are at a good stopping point please practice keyboarding with www.typing.com
 
Wednesday:
Live session from 1:45 - 2:15. During our class we will create our avatars. Avatars are digital characters that we will add into our rooms. 
 
Thursday: 
Continue working on your digital room making sure the objects are spaced appropriately and your room contains detail. If you are at a good stopping point please practice keyboarding with www.typing.com

August 24th - 28th

Welcome to the first week of specials!
 
This week we will settle into our new routine, get to know one another, go over rules and procedures and, begin our first activity around digital citizenship. 
 
Our class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:45 - 2:15. 
 
Our zoom link and password is in our teams page which you have all been added to. I also emailed out all zoom links, schedules and password to everyone. 
 
Monday:
 
Check your email and make sure you know what to expect for tomorrows first zoom meeting. 
 
Tuesday:
 
Students will join their first technology specials zoom class and learn our rules and procedures for the quarter. Students will discuss digital citizenship and their previous knowledge of online safety. Students will begin creating their digital room. 
 
Wednesday:
 
Continue working on your digital room on your own.
 
Thursday:
 
Students will create their own digital room that reflects their personalities. Their rooms will grow and change through out the quarter and students will link some of their work and projects to objects in their rooms. 
 
Students room should be completed and uploaded to teams by Tuesday, September 1st.
