What are we learning this week in Science?
Students will be able to explain the meanings of matter and physical properties.
They will be able to identify and define the following properties, which can be observed using the 5 senses: color, texture, odor, luster, clarity, hardness, malleability, and ductility.
Students will be able to describe the movement of atoms in the different states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.
What are we doing this week?
Monday
Use the slideshow to take notes:
(Properties of Matter ppt, slides 1-8, found under FILES in the science Team)
- Define matter
- What are physical properties?
- List and describe visible properties: color, luster, clarity
Tuesday
Meet me on Zoom! Demo: Melting and Boiling Points
Use the slideshow to take notes:
(Properties of Matter ppt, slides 9-10, found under FILES in the science Team)
- Review states of matter, draw particle diagrams, define
- Define melting & boiling points, include examples
Wednesday
Use the slideshow to take notes:
(Properties of Matter ppt, slides 11-15, found under FILES in the science Team)
- List & describe additional properties that can be identified just using your 5 senses: odor, taste, texture, malleability, and ductility
