12th Grade Advocacy

Course Description

The high school advocate is the first contact for parents about student communications coming from and going to the school.

During advocacy time at school, we begin each morning with circle to greet each other and start our school day.

Advocates help students with social and emotional support and college and career readiness.

High School week of 8-12-19 to 8-16-19

Hello and welcome back from Jason Brinkley!

Last week we had a great time seeing you all again, meeting some of you for the first time, and getting into the groove of High School re-tooled.

Along with our new furniture, touch TVs, paint, and carpeting, we welcome some fresh faces to our team: Dale Kern in Social Studies, Amanda Matthews in English, and Amy Schneider in Science!

We started out with a mix of regular classes and some adulting 101, with everything from sewing a button to interest rates to changing a tire! Sophomores and Juniors took a day to visit CU Boulder. Go Buffs!

This week, we will continue to bring in some regular classes, and will be holding mock interviews later in the week. Grades 9, 10, and 11 remember to send back permission slips for Thursday’s field trip to Auraria campus and tomorrow’s walking field trip to EB Rains.

As always, if students or parents have a concern, go to the teacher first, then the advocate, then Mrs. Novak, our High School Administrator. I look forward to all we will accomplish together this year!
