Course Description

Hello Everyone!
 
During distance learning I am offering office hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via email and zoom. Please email me ahead of time for a zoom meeting link!

Welcome to the last week of school!! This week I would like you to go to https://hourofcode.com/us/learn and chose one activity from Hour of Code. You do not need to login to complete the activity. Once you have completed your HOC please email me saying so. I hope you all have a wonderful summer break!

I hope you all had a nice long weekend! This week we are moving back to typing.com and will be working on a coding assignment within typing.com. I also would like you to take the one minute typing test at least one time. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need to meet during my office hours this week.

This week we are moving over to code.org. I will have you complete two Hour of Code activities (they do not take an hour to complete, about 20 mins each) and you do not need to log into code.org. Please send me an email when you have completed them and please, let me know if you have any questions.

April 27th - May 1st

The week four typing.com assignment is now posted on your account. You have until May 3rd to complete this assignment which focuses on digital literacy. Please let me know if you have any questions or need to me during my office hours next week.

This week you will find your third assignment on typing.com. If you have not made your account yet, please see my post from the week of April 6th! It is important that you use my link to create your account so I can see all of your activity. This week we will focus on Digital Literacy. April 13th - April 17th

Hello Everyone! Your week 2 assignment is posted on typing.com . If you missed last weeks assignment, you need to see my post about signing up for your typing.com account. The link to sign up is in my post from last week and there is a video that can help you as well. Please see my office hours listed above and you can always reach out via email if you have any questions.

Welcome to the first week of Quarter 4 and virtual learning! I hope you all had a nice and restful spring break. My webpage is where you will find all assignments for the quarter. Please see above for my office hours. 
 
Week 1 - Keyboarding 
 
Please go to https://www.typing.com/join#5E1DD1C3C56D5 to join my typing.com class. You will need to create an account. You can see how to make your typing.com account with a screen recording video I made above. Please put your first name in your username so I know it is you!! 
 
Once your account is created, you will see this weeks assignment which is titled Week 1. If you have completed this assignment and still would like more practice you may play the typing games on typing.com. 

March 16th - 18th

  1. All students in every grade level should practice at least 10 minutes of typing each day on www.typing.com
  2. Students do not need to login to practice typing. You may practice with lessons, test, or games.
  3. See your grade level below to see what you should be working on.
 
1/2 students should go to https://hourofcode.com/us and chose one activity each day from the pre-reader section. If students do not have a computer you may draw each part of the computer and your keyboard. Please color in the home row keys with a different color.
 
3/4 students should work on their games in http://flowlab.io/ If you need any help you can look under the help tab for video tutorials, helpful examples or you can open the editor on any game to see what code was used. If you can not complete your flowlab game you can go to https://hourofcode.com/us  and complete an hour of code activity. If you do not have access to a computer please create pixel art making art out of tiny boxes!
 
5/6 students can create a new game with http://flowlab.io/ or complete activities on http://flowlab.io/. If you do not have access to a computer please create pixel art by making an art picture out of tiny boxes!
 
 
7/8 students can create a new game with http://flowlab.io/ or complete activities on http://flowlab.io/. If you do not have access to a computer please create pixel art by making an art picture out of tiny boxes!

March 9th - 13th

This week 7-8 will be working on their business education project and building websites. 

March 2nd - 6th

This week 7/8 will continue working on flowlab games and transition into LEGO Mindstrom robotics. During our robotics project student will code their robots to move around obstacles built out of legos. 

January 27th - 31st

Welcome to the third week of our rotation. This week 7/8 will be working on internet safety activities. We will be using resources from the FBI along with code.org and Google. 

January 21st - 24th

Welcome back from a long weekend! This week 7-8 will be starting their first project, City X. Students will be planning and creating a city on another planet. Students will learn the process of planning a city and working through various challenges.
