Week of 5/26/20 - 5/29/20 Kenner's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

This is our last week of art for the year. I know, I'm sad too! But for this week we are going to go on a virtual adventure and step into the Musée de l'Orangerie in France! We will be combining the two major things we have learned so far, hot and cold colors and texture!

One of the most famous artists who used texture in his paintings is Claude Monet, a French impressionist artist.
Watch the following short video introducing Monet.

We are going to focus on Monet's water lily paintings. Click the following link to see his paintings virtually in the art museum in France! When you are looking at the water lily paintings I want you to think about what colors is he using (hot or cold)? Do you see the texture he makes with his brushstrokes? (They are sort of whispy right?)

When you are done I would like you to create a small and quick water lily drawing just like Monet! Remember to think about whether you would use hot or cold colors and the same sort of brush strokes he uses. (You can use markers, crayons or other supplies you may have at home to make whispy lines to imitate the brush strokes.) You can also use microsoft paint if you do not have access to art supplies at home. You can send your Monet inspired masterpiece to me via email if you'd like. :)

Week of 5/18/20 - 5/22/20 Kenner's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

This week you will be introduced to texture in art! Texture is the way something looks or feels. Right now you might be sitting on a soft couch or a smooth chair! That is texture! I would like you to watch a quick video about texture below from Sesame Street.

After watching that video, find 3-5 small objects around the house or outside (with adult supervision) with different types of texture. For example: A leaf, an orange and a rock.
Then watch the next video to see the activity that they do about texture. You will be doing this activity! Find a piece of paper and crayons if you have them, you can also use a pencil. Then you will put each object underneath the paper one at a time and lightly color over the object to see the texture pop out of your coloring! What type of texture does it have? Bumpy? Smooth? Prickly? Fuzzy?

You can then send me a picture of your colorings and what textures you found!

Week of 5/11/20 - 5/15/20 Kenner's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

For this week I want you to learn and think about hot and cold colors. Watch the video below about hot and cold colors and how each color represents temperature in our world! Then I’d like you to draw either on Microsoft paint, pixelart or with your own supplies on paper, a hot summer day landscape using hot colors OR a cold winter day landscape using cold colors. If you are up for the challenge you can draw both! Then send over your landscapes via email.

Remember:

Hot Colors are Red, Orange and Yellow

Cold Colors are Blue, Green and Purple

You may use Microsoft Paint. If you do not have Microsoft Paint you can use the website Pixilart. Once you are done, send your artwork to me via email. If you have art supplies at home you can also draw on a piece of paper. Just take a picture of it and email it to me.
