Week of 4/27/20 - 5/1/20 Rollman's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

This is our last week of art for the year. I know I'm sad too but you can continue to draw and create during this time and through the summer!

This week, I want to introduce you to symmetry in art!
If an object or thing is symmetrical, it can be split down the middle and both sides are the same! For example, a butterfly is symmetrical because if you were to you draw a line down the middle of the butterfly's body it is the same on both sides!

First, I would like for you to watch the following symmetry song video.
This video shows you more objects with symmetry!

Then, you are going to create a symmetrical creature! Watch the following video on how to create one. If you do not have colorful paper that's ok! You can make a really wild symmetrical creature with one white piece of paper and then color it with markers or crayons once you've cut it out.

If you'd like, you can email me a picture of your wild and crazy symmetrical creature!

Week of 4/20/20-4/24/20 Rollman's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

After learning about shapes and primary colors, this week we are going to look at famous artist, Piet Mondrian's work.

I would like for you to google "Piet Mondrian Paintings". Here you will see the majority of his paintings are filled with shapes, lines and primary colors!
When looking at his paintings, I want you to think about what shapes does he use? What kinds of lines does he use?

Then I would like you to create your own Mondrian drawing using primary colors and black lines to separate the shapes! You can either use supplies at home on paper or the following link lets you create Mondrian style pictures with the click of your mouse! If you would like, you can send me what you created!

Week of 4/13/20-4/17/20 Rollman's Advocacy

Hey Art Students!

For this week I would like you to watch the video link below about Primary Colors. Then I would like you to go on a scavenger hunt in your house and find 3 different objects that each have one of the primary colors. For example, an apple that is red, a speaker that is blue and a shoe that is yellow. If you have supplies at home you can draw these items in the primary colors that they are!

When you’re done I would like you to go on a scavenger hunt around your house or outside (if you are able and have an adult with you). See if you can find objects that are shaped like a Circle, Square, Triangle, Rectangle, Oval and a Diamond! Do your best to find them all but if you can’t find certain shapes that’s ok! Send me an email by Friday stating the objects that you find in those shapes.
