Literacy 1/20/20-1/23/20
Hello Parents!
I am very impressed with your children this week! I am blown away with how much they are writing and reading! Last week was thrown off by absences and sickness going through our school. The students wrote about what they did over break, added pages to our "If you give our class a..." book, and wrote about where they would travel and how they will get there.
Our whole class has really improved on capital letters, finger spacing and punctuation.
This week we are learning the sight words she, here, and are. Students will be writing sentences using our new sight words and will read them in our new books.
In Superkids, students will learn to name and write uppercase H and lowercase h. They will learn the sound h stands for in words like horse, hand, and helicopter. We will meet Hot Rod, who loves fast cars, and we will learn about car parts and racing. When the class listens to the read-aloud Wheels, children will learn about the invention of the wheel and its uses then and now.
We will make a class list of things that go fast, and children will write and illustrate informational books about things we listed.
A new sight word sentences will go home Monday, please read them with your child!
