Hello Parents! 

I am so excited to jump right into Reader's and Writer's Workshop! 

Word Work: Students will fine tune their handwriting skills for each letter and practice reading and writing consonant-vowel-consonant (cvc) words. Students will also begin learning all about the "Super Kids" and the fun adventures they went on over the summer. 

Reading: Students will learn the procedures and routines for "Read to Self" and "Buddy Reading". These routines will support our daily workshop routine for the remainder of the school year. Students will also learn all of the different ways we can read a book including taking a sneak peek, reading the pictures, reading the words, re-reading, finding your favorite moment, and re-telling the story to a friend. 

Writing: Students will complete their first writing assessment as we begin our Personal Narrative Unit. Students will brainstorm a variety of adventures to write about, including characters and setting, adding more details, labeling our pictures, and talking about our writing.
