Mrs. Cundari's Advocacy

Week of Jan. 19, 2020

Westgate is moving towards a “toy free” zone.  Unfortunately, there has been a lot of distractions and problems caused by students bringing toys, fidgets, stuffed animals, blankets, Pokemon cards, etc. We want students to focus on learning and building relationships while they are here, and toys become a disruption to this learning process.  Outdoor equipment (balls, scooters, etc) is still acceptable. Appropriate fidgets will be available in the classrooms for those who need one. More information is coming soon from admin.

I would also like to remind you to have your child keep personal electronics at home. We do provide ear buds here at school and cell phones can stay in the backpack if they are turned off during school hours. Again, these items can be a distraction and take away from academic and social/emotional learning.

Thank you so much for your support with this!

Cundari Out Thursday/Friday
I will be at a ThesCon - a conference for high school theater students - from Thursday through Saturday. I will posting Semester grades before I go, and I most likely won't be able to check emails.  For any immediate concerns during that time, please reach out to Mrs. Dewar, or I will get back to you when I return.

Reminders:
  • Pokemon cards, Bey Blades, slime, putty, etc.: Need to stay at home now. They are causing problems with students not paying attention in class, not sharing appropriately, and there has been some trading. We are not responsible for toys traded at recess. It takes away from our learning time.
