Week of November 4th

Due to the snow, we did not start our new week.  This week, we will begin learning about other tribes that were native to Colorado, such as the Comanche & Apache (among others).  We will learn where in Colorado they were located & how they used the land and resources to survive.

Week of October 21st

This week, we will continue to learn about the Ancestral Puebloans.  Students will summarize and determine importance from various readings.  We will have a quiz on Friday. 

Week of October 14th

This week, we will begin our unit on the native Colorado people.  We will begin learning about the Ancestral Puebloans, a Native American tribe (who are known for Mesa Verde). 

Week of September 23rd

This week, we will wrap up our focus of regions in Colorado.  We will focus on comparing geographic features in Colorado to neighboring states.  Students will investigate the features of other states and be able to speak about similarities and differences between the states. 

Week of 9/16

This week, students will work on creating a PowerPoint based on their research of their animal that is native to Colorado.  They will use their fact fragments to create slides in complete sentences.  Students will present their PowerPoint to the class.  On Friday, we will have a quiz on map skills, regions of Colorado, and animals native to Colorado. 

Week of September 9th

This week, we will continue exploring the different regions of Colorado.  We will also start researching and understanding the different types of wildlife that are found in these areas. 

Week of September 3rd

This week, we will continue to investigate the 4 regions of Colorado with a focus on the Rocky Mountain region.  Students will be choosing a famous Colorado mountain to research and learn its statistics, as well as animals that can be found there. 

Week of 26th

This week, we will focus on the geography of Colorado & its features.  We will first apply map skills to making our own physical map of Colorado, then learning about how these features affect the different regions within Colorado.
