Force, Motion, and Magnets 2/25/19

We sure did enjoy our field trip to the WOW museum on Thursday! It was great to be able to apply what we learned into our Physics unit!

Later this week we will be moving into magnetism. We will be learning about magnets and doing a fun experiment about things that are magnetic.

IMPORTANT: Kindness Week 2/11-2/14

We have a lot going on this week so here are a few important reminders:

February 11th-13th is Kindness week! We will be doing Kindness activities all week!

February 13th is Hundreds day! Children are welcome to dress up like they are 100 years old!

We will be providing a 100’s day snack that day, but if your child has allergies or wants to opt out, you can still have them bring their own snack.

Tomorrow is Class Picture Day 1/18/19

Hello Parents,

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is Class Picture Day. Order forms were sent home on Monday and I have only had 2 students return their order to me. I will be sending home an extra order form with students today so please check your student’s backpack. I have also attached a scan of the directions to order online if necessary.

Kindergarten will be first to have their picture taken so please be sure to arrive to school on time and send the order form with your student.

Thank you so much!

Holidays Around the World 12/10/2018

Hello Families,

This week in Social Studies we are continuing our holidays around the world study. We will be visiting France, Netherlands, England, and learning about American Kwanzaa!

The 5 Senses Wrap up...

This week we are wrapping up our 5 senses unit. Once Completed we will begin a mini unit on hibernation. This goes along with our seasons standards. We are going to learn about hibernation vs. migration for this week only!

The Five Senses

This month Science is all about the 5 senses! We will be starting off with a pre-assessment, naming each of the five senses, then matching each sense with a part of the body. We will learn how scientists use their 5 senses to observe and investigate the world around them. This week and next we will conduct experiments for each of the 5 senses and wrap up with a final popcorn project.

Science: The Sun, Weather, and the 4 Seasons

Dear Family,

This week we will be learning all about the seasons and weather.  Your child will be able to identify seasons and the effect of the sun in each.  They will describe different types of weather throughout the week, too. Your child will be able to make connections between the season, natural resources, and the Earth. Your child will know why it is important to take care of our Earth and how they can help.

Important!!!

Friday, September 7th, Kindergarten will be hosting our own seasons fashion show. We encourage every Kindergartener to bring a costume. Each child can dress up in winter, spring, summer, or fall clothes. This can be as creative or basic as you would like. I have seen people come in dressed up as the sun or a fire ball, or simply in a (school dress code safe) swimming suit. Your child may bring the costume to keep in their cubby or wear their costume throughout the day. If they choose to keep it in their cubby, please make sure it can go on above their clothes so that we don’t have a 30 minute changing session. No masks, or face covering paint allowed. We will be showing off our seasons costumes to other classes in our pod.

Vocabulary:

cycle

season

weather

Strategies to support your student at home:

  1. Talk about activities you can do in each season.
  2. Talk about a time when you were in a storm. What happened? How did you feel?
  3. What types of weather can you name?
  4. Talk about resources that are man-made and ones that are natural.
  5. Talk about ways you can take care of the Earth.
  6. Plant a tree or a flower together as a family.

Curriculum Night Reminder!

Curriculum Night is Thursday, August 30; 6PM – 8PM – Adults Only Please!
