Week of 9/24 - 9/26

This is a short week! We will be editing a paragraph for spelling, grammar, and sentence structure mistakes.  We will be setting up our Newsela accounts, and we will begin going over using RACES to answer questions.  

Week of 9/17 - 9/21

We will continue our work on grammar and parts of speech, including reviewing our knowledge of nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs.  We will be learning how to differentiate their, there, and they're as well as you're and your.  Taking all of this knowledge, we will edit paragraphs and search for errors in their grammar and spelling. 

Week of 9/10 - 9/14

This week in Language Arts we will continue to study grammar and sentence structure, finishing up with nouns, adjectives, verbs - learning about pronouns and adverbs.  We'll make fill out some fun Mad Lib style papers, and even make our own. 

Week of 9/4 - 9/7

This week we will be continuing with our study of parts of speech, moving from nouns to adjectives and verbs.  We will be concentrating how to properly use all of these parts to construct proper sentences.  

Week of 8/27 - 8/30

This week we will begin working on setting up class routines and norms, including the use of depth and complexity icons, as well as beginning work on grammar review including nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions and pronouns.  Student will begin writing to prompts and reading choice books as well.

Week of 8/20-8/24

This week we will be starting to switch for Language Arts midway through.  We will be starting our snovel (snack + novel) read aloud book, doing some silent reading, getting to know each other, and learning about routines and expectations.
