Important Information Regarding Park Day 5/29/19

These classes need to bring extra dry clothes tomorrow due to winning the Hydro Blast from the FunRun!

       Mr. Gale

      Mrs. Hackleman

      Mrs. Hamilton

Ms. Rollman's class will be in the bouncy house and enjoy park day activities!

The following information is from Mr. Wise regarding school totals.

Hello Runners!
Just wanted to share some information about our successful Run4Fund$ event:
Are you ready for this....

-As a school, these kiddos ran  9,307 laps!  That equals 512 miles, which is like running from Westgate to Manhattan, KS!

-Our school average laps per student were 26.5

Mr. Gale's class raised $982

Mrs. Hamilton's class raised $1355

Mrs. Hackleman's class raised $1155.66

Ms. Rollman's class raised $325

Our grand total for 1st and 2nd grade was $3817.60

In total, Westgate students raised just over $12,000 which was more than 150% of our school goal. WOW! We are excited to celebrate together as a school with a Bounce House and School Wide Foam Party during our Community Clean Up and Park Day on Wednesday, May 29th.

Please give yourselves a pat on the back, the number of laps that were run and the amount of money that was earned blew our expectations out of the water.  That is just a testament to how much you all care about this wonderful place and care to support each other's ideas. I am extremely appreciative of the energy and effort you guys put into this event and I cannot thank you enough!

1-2 End of the Year Picnic

Dear Parents,

You are cordially invited to a picnic lunch with your child on Thursday, May 30th from 11:45-12:45.  Please make sure your child has a sack lunch on this day because they will not have access to a microwave.  If you would like to attend, please check in at the front desk by 11:45.

Park Day Posposted from 5/23 to 5/29

Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow, park day is postponed until next Wednesday, May 29th. It will not interrupt the second grade passion project fair.

Student Led Conference Sign-Up's

Hello Westgate Families!

Below is the link for student led conferences. Please sign-up for a start time with your HOMEROOM teacher only.

Student-led conferences are going to work a little differently this year.  We are allowing a half hour time slot for 5 parent/students to come in during that time frame ONLY.

Your child will lead you through their work and digital portfolios.  This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from your child about what they feel they have learned, what goals they have met and what skills they continue to work on.

Teachers will be available to help answer questions you may have.

You can also sign up for a 15-minute conference with specials teachers separately from your other conference.

Recycle and Trash Crafts! May 9th and 10th

Hello Westgate Families,
Our advocacy class had a great idea of having a craft day reusing trash and items from our recycling bin. If your student has items from home they want to reuse, they are welcome to bring no more than a grocery sack of items to school starting on Monday. Please do not buy anything, the idea is to recreate tools, supplies and gifts from the trash and recycling bin.

Thank you!

If you want to keep it simple, gift cards and money donations are okay. Kelly can do the shopping for you.

Contact her to plan a drop off directly or turn them into the school's front desk.  There will be a bin labeled Mrs. Hackleman, please label your item with the following "Hackleman/Tailgate Time Basket/Child's Name"

Please turn in your items before 4/20/19 so that she will have time to get the gift basket auction ready and fabulous!  Your donation will then be used to purchase items for the classroom basket.  If you have an item or idea that you think would be great to add to this basket that is not listed, please feel free to email Kelly and she will figure out how to add it to our basket.

Spring Parent Teacher Conference Sign-Up

Hello Westgate Families!

Below, you will find a link to the 1-2 class sign up genius for conferences.  Please sign-up for a start time in one of the slots available.

Parent/teacher conferences are going to work differently this time around.  You are only signing up for one time slot and may request the teachers you'd like to meet within this pod during that specific time.  The teachers will make the final decision about which teachers are in each conference and you may not be able to meet with all teachers for the entire time.

Sign-ups are on a first come, first served basis.

You can also sign up for a 20-minute conference with the specials teachers separately from your other conference.

Please note that if you are unable to make it on one of the two conferences days, we are unable to schedule outside of those two days.  We appreciate your understanding.
