5/6 Week 2- 2/25-3/1

This week we will starting off with some teambuilding activities to get everyone comfortable working together with different classmates. We will be starting our dynamic stretching/warm up routine that we will do at the beginning of each class. We will also be starting the fastest class challenge. The 3/4 students will be competing against the 5/6 students to see which class can run the most laps by the end of our rotation.  In lieu of our workout on Wednesday, the students will be participating in a 10minute scooter workout. 
In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching.

5/6 Week 1- 2/19-2/22

This week we will starting off with some teambuilding activities to get everyone comfortable working together with different classmates. 5/6 Week 5- 2/11-2/14

This week we will continue with out Tchoukball tournaments. We will also be playing some crazy cageball and capture the flag to get the heart rate up and get the kids sweating. There will not be a workout this week and in health we will be talking about growth mindset and the students will be finding and reading articles that interest them around this topic. 

5/6 Week 4- 2/4-2/8

This week students will be participating in Tchoukball games. We will set up a little 3 team tchoukball tournament and students will work on catching and throwing to a moving target while working to increase their cardiovascular endurance. On Wednesday, the students will be participating in our Tabata circuit workout. In health we will be talking about the importance of stretching. 
They will also be taking their dynamic stretching test. 

5/6 Week 3- 1/28-2/1

This week we will continue to play handball. We will also be mixing in some jump rope stations. In health we will be talking about putting together a FITT workout plan. Students will learn key vocabulary as well as the various components necessary to ensure a beneficial workout. On Wednesday the students will be participating in a circuit workout with a goal of 23minutes at 70-100% of their max heart rate. 

5/6 Week 2- 1/22-1/25

This week we will be continuing our handball unit. The students will be participating in various strategy and catching and throwing games working to develop their hand eye coordination as well as their ability to throw to and catch a moving target. In health we will be talking about FITT plans and how to put together a good workout for yourself. On Wednesday, the students will be participating in a wild workout with a goal of 20minutes in the zone of 70-100% of their max heart rate. On Friday we will be playing a small sided handball tournament. 

5/6 Week 1-1/14-1/18

This week we will be starting out with some community building and team building activities working to get everyone comfortable working together with different classmates. We will be starting our new dynamic stretching/warm up routine. We will also be starting our Fastest class challenge in which the 5/6 students will be competing against the 3/4 students to see which class can run the most laps by the end of the rotation. On Wednesday, Mile High Karate will be in PE to put on a little demonstration and get the kids excited about Karate club. In health we will be talking about growth mindset. 

5/6 Week 12/10-12/14

This week we will be starting our handball unit. The students will be participating in various hand eye coordination games and will culminate with some small sided handball games. On Wednesday the students will be challenged to stay in the zone for 25minutes while working through one of our wild workouts. In health the students will be given their stretch test to see if they know the major muscle groups and how to properly stretch them. Keep up the good work 5/6! 5/6 Week 3 12/3-12/7

This week we will finishing up our soccer stations and beginning our soccer skills games. The students will be playing some line soccer, challenging them to use those skills we have been practicing in more of an authentic game-like situation. In health we will continue talking about our emotions and why we have these emotions as well as what mental health means. On Wednesday the students will be participating in our Tabata station workout.

5/6 Week 2-11/26-11/30

This week we will continue to build that sense of community within the classroom by having the students participate in various team building activities. We will also be starting our soccer unit and the students will be working to develop their foundational soccer skills being passing, dribbling, and shooting. On Wednesday the students will participate in a Wild Workout with a heart rate goal of 25mins at 70-100% of their max heart rate. On Thursday, we will be talking about our emotions and why we have these emotions. At the end of the week, the students will be participating in some Friday Fun games which they will vote on. 

5/6 Week 1-11/13-11/16

Welcome to PE at Westgate. Our first week, we will spend time building a healthy classroom community by participating in several teambuilding activities that will challenge students to step outside of their comfort zone and to work with different classmates. We will participating in Workout Wendnesday and in health they will be learning about recognizing their emotions and learning about why we have these emotions. 

Oct 29-Nov 2 5/6

Great job this week 5/6. We continued our soccer unit and played several competitive games of Line Soccer in which the students were challenged to use the skills they have been working on during our station rotation. On wednesday we began to talk about making healthy eating choices and familiarizing ourselves with Choose My Plate. For our workout the students participated in our stations rotation. Next week we will continue playing some line soccer as well as start our handball unit. 

Week 2

Great work this week guys! I am so proud of the effort you all put forth this week on Workout Wednesday. It was so great to see everyone so determined to meet their goal and seemingly enjoy working out! See it can be a lot of FUN! These guys rocked it! We completed our soccer skill stations and next week we will putting these skills to work playing some soccer skill games. In health we talked what "Self-Esteem" is and how we can bring our self esteem up in many different ways. We talked about what makes us feel (happy, sad, worried, angry, proud, etc) and then we drew names out of a bucket and wrote that person a kindness letter and looked to see how it affected them. Needless to say there were some really nice cards and some really bright smiling faces ; )
 
Next week we will be starting our soccer skill games and Handball!

Great job this week 5/6. We started out participating in some team building challenge games then jumped right into Workout Wednesday. it was so great to see everyone so determined to achieve their workout goal.  In health we talked about the mental health benefits of exercise. We hear a lot about how exercise benefits us physically so this week we looked at the above the neck benefits. Next week we will be talking about the importance of healthy relationships and jumping into our Workout Wednesday stations!
