Week 1

Great job this week! It was so great to see everyone and how much they have grown over the summer! The energy has been buzzing in PE this week. We spent a lot of time learning some new warm up and movement games. On Wednesday we were able to squeeze in a little workout. It was great to see everyone breathing hard and sweating. On Thursday I pushed into the classroom and we talked about the importance of drinking water and how it helps keep our bodies cool and healthy.

Next week we will continue to work on our body awareness and movement competency as well as introduce some rolling and catching skills!

Looking forward to another great week in PE!

Parent Focus Group

Parents! THIS Thursday, September 6th, Amanda Novak and Generation Schools Network are hosting a Parent & Student Focus Group about topics such as bullying, social emotional learning, and more. Join us for meaningful conversation and DONUTS on Thursday morning from 8:15am-9:15am. We need your input - your voices matter!

Week 4-Jump Rope

Great Job this week guys! You guys worked so hard these last four week and I am very proud of the effort you guys put forth. This week we started our jump rope unit that we will continue with the next time we come together. It was so great to see everyone determined to learn how to jump rope and sticking with it. I know some of the stuff we do is very difficult and you may not have tried it before but YOU DID IT! That is GRIT right there, pushing through and staying focused when things get tough! Keep up the good work and I look forward to having you back in PE soon!

Week 3 Toss and Catch

Great Job this week. I know the bean bag challenge was tough but continue to practice and you will be amazed at how quickly you learn. This week we continued working on our hand eye coordination and participated in several catch and toss games/challenges. In health we talked about the different food groups and started identifying foods in each group. On Wednesday the students participated in Deal a Healthy Heart workout. Next week we will continue our hand eye coordination challenges and will be using balloons and juggling scarves.

Week 2 Toss, Roll

Great Job this week PE All Stars!

This week we focused on our hand eye coordination specifically the skills rolling and tossing. We had a little across class challenge between the K and 1/2 students in a timed game of POPCORN. It was so great to see everyone working together to complete the challenge. In health we began talking about making healthy food choice and what makes a food healthy for you. For workout Wednesday we did Deal A Healthy Heart and the students came up, chose a playing card, looked at the exercise 'key' and then completed that exercise. It was great to see everyone working so hard and getting strong!

Next week we will begin playing some catch and really develop that hand eye coordination that is so important not only for sports and PE but writing and in the classroom as well!

Keep up the good work!
