9/18/17

This week in Social Studies we will be learning about the Ancestral Pueblo People. Many times our students are excited about this part of the unit but some students struggle with this topic. Ancestral Pueblo People or the Anasazi may or may not have been driven away by some members of the community turning to cannibalism. I do not go into detail on this point but it is mentioned in a documentary that we will be watching. If you believe that this topic is not best for your child please let me know. We will start the documentary on Tuesday 9/19/17. I will give your child alternative work if you do not want your child to watch the documentary.

Grades are due this Friday 9/22/17. I will not except late work as of Thursday 9/21/17.

9/11/17

This week in Social Studies we will be starting our unit on the Ute Native Americans. According to Ute folklore, the Utes have been in Colorado since the beginning of time.  Students will be taking notes from text and a video. I will post the video after we have finished watching it in class. Students will later use this information to complete the Colorado Native American Project.

9/5/17

Hopefully this week we can get caught up. We will continue to work on our maps this week. Students will also be assigned their Colorado Animal for the Animal and regions project.

8/28/17

This week in Social Studies, we will be spending more time exploring the Geography of Colorado. We will also be looking at the animals that call Colorado home. Students will start their Animal of Colorado Research Project. This will be due Friday, September 1, 2017. I will post a rubric after I go over it with the class.

8/21/17

Last week we had several students that struggled to do their Creation of Colorado Quiz. It has been sent home in Friday folders for corrections or to be finished. I have also posted the video to help any student that needs to watch it again.

Next week: we will be learning about the regions and rivers of Colorado, also the animals that live in those areas.
