Fall Curriculum
- Project 1: Neurographic Doodle
- In this project, students create an abstract Neurographic-inspired artwork using organic lines, patterns, and analogous colors. Students begin with a spontaneous, flowing line that intersects itself to create unique shapes, then develop each section with patterns, color blending and thoughtful design choices. This process encourages creativity, focus, and experimentation.
- This project aligns with Art Standards, including:
- VA: Cr2.1.6: Demonstrate openness to trying new ideas, materials, methods, and approaches in making works of art and design.
- VA: Re9.1.6: Develop and apply relevant criteria to evaluate a work of art.
- Through this abstract art process, students explore how line, pattern, and color relationships can transform spontaneous marks into cohesive and visually engaging compositions.
- Project 2: Autobiographical Still-Life
- In this project, students create an autobiographical still life by designing and constructing a personal shelving unit to display objects that represent their interests, experiences, and identity. Students then draw their still life, using value, tone, shading, and varied mark-making techniques to create depth, texture, and dimension.
- This project aligns with Art Standards, including:
- VA:Cn 11.1.6: Analyze how art reflects changing times, traditions, resources, and cultural uses.
- VA:Cr3.1.6: Reflect on whether personal artwork conveys the intended meaning and revise accordingly.
- VA:Cr1.2.6: Formulate an artistic investigation of personally relevant content for creating art
- Through this project, students explore personal identity while developing skills in construction, observational drawing, shading, and visual storytelling
