This month in Science, our kindergartners are learning about pollinators and the important role they play in our environment! 🐝🦋🌸

As part of our service learning lesson, we are moving beyond simply learning about pollinators and beginning to think about an important question:

“How can WE help?”

🐝 Caring for Our Pollinators

Students will learn that even though they are little, they can make a meaningful difference! We will discuss simple ways we can help pollinators in our own community, including:

• 🌸 Planting flowers that provide food for pollinators.
• 🌼 Leaving dandelions for bees instead of immediately picking them.
• 💧 Providing clean water sources for pollinators.
• 🦋 Giving pollinators space and being careful not to disturb their habitats.
• 💛 Remembering that small actions can have a big impact on the living things around us.

🌎 Service Learning in Kindergarten

One of our goals is for students to understand that science isn't just something we learn about—it can help us take care of our community and our environment.

Throughout our lesson, students will reflect on the small but powerful choices they can make to support the bees, butterflies, and other pollinators that live right here in our area.

“Can you find a pollinator?” 🐝
“What do you notice it doing?” 🔎
“What could we do to help pollinators?” 🌸
“Why should we leave their habitat alone?” 🦋
