Bring Prototype Supplies Tomorrow 5/1!

Hello families,

This is a quick reminder that tomorrow, students will be building a prototype for their Shark Tank project during class.

Please have your student bring simple materials to create their prototype. This may include items such as cardboard, paper, cans, jars, string, or other basic craft supplies.

๐Ÿšซ Please do not send paint or messy materials, as we will be working in the classroom.

Students will use class time to build a basic version of their idea. If they would like to add more detail or improve their prototype, they are welcome to continue working on it at home over the weekend.

Thank you for your support!

Shark Tank - 7/8 Project

Hello families,

We are beginning an exciting, hands-on classroom project inspired by Shark Tank! Students will be creating their own business idea and learning how products and services are developed, priced, and presented. Then students will write a sales pitch and present that in front of a panel of "Sharks."

Throughout this project, students will:

  • Design a product or service
  • Calculate the cost to create it (materials, labor, and startup costs)
  • Determine a selling price and potential profit
  • Build a prototype
  • Write a pitch to the panel of "Sharks"
  • Present their product and their pitch to the class

This project focuses on real-world skills such as problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and writing.

๐Ÿ“… Important Dates:

Students will have class time to work on all parts of this project. However, if a student is not using class time effectively or would like additional time to refine their work, they are welcome to complete any portion of the project at home.

Brainstorm & Choose Final Product/Service

๐Ÿ—“ 4/27/26

Students will generate ideas and select their final product or service.

Glossary Terms & Product Sketch

๐Ÿ—“ 4/28/26

Students will define key business terms and create a sketch/plan of their product or service.

Building List

๐Ÿ—“ 4/29/26

Students will create a list of all materials needed to build their prototype or demonstrate their service and use that to calculate their capital resources and consumable resources.

Prototype Day (Bring Supplies!)

๐Ÿ—“ 4/30/26 - 5/01/2026

Students must come prepared with materials to build a model of their product OR be ready to demonstrate their service (role play, visuals, or materials). Students will build their prototypes during class time.

Writing the Pitch

๐Ÿ—“ 5/04/26 - 5/06/26

Students will write and refine their business pitch and practice their pitch out loud before presenting to the Sharks. It is a good idea to have students practice this pitch at home as well!

"Catch-Up" Day

๐Ÿ—“ 5/07/2026

Students can use today to tie up and loose ends before their presentations.

Final Presentation Day

๐Ÿ—“ *5/08/26 *

Students will present their business idea and prototype to the class.

Final Written Work Due

๐Ÿ—“ 5/08/26

All worksheets and cost calculations must be completed and turned in.

๐Ÿงฐ What Your Student May Need:

  • Basic craft supplies (poster board, markers, etc.)
  • Materials to build a simple prototype
  • Items to help demonstrate their service (if applicable)

๐Ÿ’ก Prototypes do NOT need to be perfect or expensiveโ€”creativity is encouraged! Prototype can be made from clay, paper, carboard, etc.

If you have any questions or need support gathering materials, please feel free to reach out. Iโ€™m excited to see the creativity and innovation your students bring to this project!

Thank you for your support,

Mrs. St. Clair

Good morning, Middle School Families,

This week, we are continuing with review activities to help students transition smoothly back into their learning routines. Students received their next homework assignment today. Homework will be available both in print and online through your studentโ€™s Teams account and is due this Friday, August 22.

If your student has not yet brought a book to keep in our ELA classroom, please encourage them to do so. When students complete their work early, they are expected to use this time for independent reading.

As always, please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

8/11-8/15 - ELA Updates

Hello Families!

Weโ€™ve had a wonderful first week together, and the students are already off to a great start!

Looking at this week 8/11-8/15:

๐Ÿ“š Homework: Students have received their first homework assignment of the year. It is due Friday, August 15th. Please help remind your child to complete it on time.

๐Ÿ”„ This Weekโ€™s Focus: We will be reviewing important skills and routines as we get back into the swing of things. This will help us build a strong foundation for the rest of the school year.

๐Ÿ“– Independent Reading: Each student should bring a book from home to keep in our ELA classroom. This will be their go-to book for independent reading when they finish assignments early. Having a personal choice book will help keep our reading time meaningful and enjoyable!

Thank you for your continued support!
