Dear Westgate Families,
Welcome to the start of a brand new school year! I’m excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and exploration with our students. We have some exciting updates to share as we kick off the year.
This year, we are implementing a brand new HMH Science curriculum. This program brings engaging, hands-on learning experiences designed to deepen student understanding and curiosity in science.
Here’s a quick overview of what your child will be learning in quarter 1 science this year:
-
8th Grade: Our focus will be on energy – how it's transformed, transferred, and used in various systems.
-
7th Grade: We’ll dive into the world of cells, exploring their structure, function, and importance in living organisms.
Please be on the lookout for an advocacy post coming soon, which will provide additional information about our team and upcoming events.
As always, communication is key! If you have any questions or need to get in touch, email is the fastest way to reach me. I’m looking forward to partnering with you to make this a successful year for your student.
Warm regards,
Marcella Haupt
