Social Studies Update Week of 11/3/25

Greetings 7th Grade Families!
Students have been busy building knowledge about the world religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. We will do a vocabulary review Monday, test review Tuesday, and then take an assessment on Wednesday. I will send home a study guide, attach it to Teams, and email a copy to each of you.
Our next big project will be the World Religion Museum where students will chose a religion and a religious artifact from that religion, research the artifact, and create a museum exhibit using the artifacts.
I wanted to remind you that we have a half day on Friday and no school on Monday to observe Veteran's Day.
Email with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mr. Rowan

Social Studies Update Week of 10/20/25

Greetings 7th Grade Families,

This week students will finish up their Ancient Inventions Shark Tank project. Students will learn some tips when it comes to presenting, they will get to practice their pitch multiple times with feedback, and they will use the feedback to finalize their Shark Tank presentations. The day of the actual Shark Tank will be this Thursday, October 23rd. If you would like to volunteer to be a Shark, please read the description below and sign up using the link provided.

Have you ever watched Shark Tank?  Do you like scrutinizing ideas and inventions?  Well, do I have the opportunity for you!  On Thursday, October 23rd, 7th grade Social Studies students will be participating in the first ever “Shark Tank: Ancient Civilizations.”  Students have researched a variety of inventions from different ancient civilizations and are preparing to present their inventions to a panel of sharks.

I am looking for 9-12 people who would be willing to be sharks for 2 class periods of students. 9-12 people for class 7B which is from 10:45 am to 11:45 am and 9-12 people for class 7D which is from 2:25 – 3:25 pm.  Students will first present their invention and marketing plan to the panel of sharks, and you would then scrutinize their plan and ask them questions.  At the end of each class presentation, you will decide if you want to invest in each product, and how much of your 10,000 gems you would be willing to give them.

The date for the presentations is Thursday, October 23rd.

If you are interested in being a shark, please fill out the attached Microsoft Form, and I will contact you. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=g63kUOjsn0GLHt1cphgzjVRi34ECgx9Hhc5vbWnCHqBUOTFDUDBRNVRQUjlPS0xSUk5INlRRQlVPTi4u

Please email me with any questions. Thank you very much for considering this!

Sincerely,

Mr. Rowan
