ELA Week of October 27

This week we will continue to work on writing complete paragraphs by using a “Hamburger Model” construction.  We will use hands-on activities to make sure we are writing effective paragraphs that contain topic sentences, supporting ideas using evidence from the text, and having a strong concluding sentences. In addition, we will be continuing to work in our Module in reading about natural disasters.

Hey Everyone,
 
We will begin Module 3, Natural Disasters, this week! The essential question students will be working on is: How can learning about natural disasters make us safer? 
 
Writing
Student will be working on the following:

Inquiry and Research Project: Create A Safety Pamphlet: Students will create a safety pamphlet with information about how to stay safe during natural disasters.

  • Week 3 Practice and Present
Reading
Articles and stories students will read:
  • Who Studies Natural Disasters?
  • Eruption! Volcanoes and the Science of Saving Lives
