Social Studies Week of September 22nd

Hello Families!

This week in social studies, students will be able to explain the roles of buyers and sellers in an economy and describe how goods and services are exchanged through trade or money.

Week 9/1

We hope this newsletter finds you well! As we move through another exciting week, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership. Your involvement makes a significant difference in our school community.

Important Announcements

  • Product Creation and Store Setup: This week, our students will be finishing their product creations and setting up their stores to buy and sell! This hands-on experience is a fantastic opportunity for them to learn about entrepreneurship.

  • Business Plan Evaluation: We will also be evaluating our business plans based on our company's profit or loss, as well as how well we worked together as a team. Please encourage your children to reflect on their experiences during this process.

Celebrations from the Week

We want to take a moment to celebrate the perseverance and patience demonstrated by our students. They navigated delays and changes in plans with grace and determination. Their ability to adapt and support one another is truly commendable!

Week 8/25

Dear Wonderful Families,

We hope this newsletter finds you well and filled with joy. As we continue our journey together, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership. Your involvement makes a significant difference in our school community.

Celebrations from the Week

This week has been filled with exciting learning experiences! We are proud to share that all students are working hard to navigate disagreements and communicate respectfully within their teams, or “companies.”

  • They have created inventive advertisements for the products they will be making and selling.
  • It’s amazing to see their creativity and teamwork shine through!

Social Studies this week:

In Social Studies, we are entering Production Week! Here’s what to expect:

  • Students will receive a "loan" to purchase supplies for their products.
  • They will need to carefully consider their spending against their projected sales to ensure they make a profit based on their business plans.

This hands-on experience is not only fun but also teaches valuable lessons about financial literacy and teamwork.

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive learning environment for our students. We are grateful for the partnership we share and look forward to more collaborative moments in the future.

Dear Families,

We hope this message finds you well! As we move into another exciting week, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and partnership. Your involvement makes a significant difference in our students' lives, and we appreciate everything you do.

Important Announcements

This week, our students will embark on a hands-on learning experience, acting as both producers and consumers. Here’s what to expect:

  • Group Projects: Students will work in teams to create a company, produce a product, and manage a store.
  • Shopping Experience: After the companies are established, students will shop at the stores created by their peers.
  • Reflection: Following the activity, each company will reflect on their product and profits.

Please encourage your child to engage fully in this activity, as it provides a valuable learning opportunity!

Celebrations from the Week

Last week was filled with joy as many students successfully created their personal budgets and navigated some unexpected "life surprises." This activity not only taught them financial responsibility but also allowed them to think critically about their choices. We celebrate their efforts and resilience

In social studies this week your student will continue learning about economies. They will brainstorm types of jobs that exist in real life and then choose a job and a type of home on a fictional planet. They will use money math to create a budget and account for surprises that happen in life on this pretend plant.

In advocacy, your student will be considering the character trait of Integrity. They will read the Empty pot and consider how they can show integrety at home, in school and in their community.
