What are we doing this week?

This week in math, we are learning about the distributive property with multiplication and applying it to solve word problems. We will also review multiplication facts to prepare for our Chapter 2 test on Friday.

To support your child at home, practicing multiplication facts regularly will help build their confidence and speed. Even just a few minutes a day can make a big difference!

Week of 8/18

We have a busy week ahead! On Monday, students will take their Chapter 1 Math test as well as the MCOMP assessment, which measures math computation skills to help us understand students’ strengths and areas for growth.

Wednesday is MAPS testing day, another important assessment that guides our instruction.

We will also begin Chapter 2 in Big Ideas Math, focusing on multiplication facts and strategies. Students will practice multiplying by 1, 5, 10, 0, and themselves.

At home, you can support your child by practicing multiplication facts and skip counting to build fluency.

Week of 8/11

What are we doing this week?

We have MAPS testing this week.

We will be continuing our lessons in chapter 1. We will review 1.4 multiplying in any order, 1.5 size of equal groups, 1.6 number of equal groups, and 1.7 use number lines to divide. Next Monday, the 18th we will be reviewing chapter 1 to get ready for our test next Tuesday . A review will be sent home with your student on Friday; this is NOT homework but is a great way to review things learned in class with them to prepare them for the test.

Practice Sheets

Some of your students may have brought home a practice sheet. THIS IS NOT HOMEWORK and they do not need to bring it back. They wanted to bring it home to practice multiplication.
