This week during seminar I will be away, but I will ask the substitute teacher to provide you with a list of questions and tasks related to preparing for the Omaha trip to complete.

11th Grade Service Trip Changes

Hello,
 
If you didn't see, please check your email for a message about changes to the 11th grade service trip over Spring Break. We will be going to Omaha, Nebraska instead of Santa Fe, and we will be away one day longer than the previous plan. Let me know if you didn't get that message and I will be sure to get it to you.

Prom!

Good afternoon!
 
Prom is fast approaching, and we are looking for some help in providing snacks and drinks during the event. If you are financially able, please consider making a donation so we can give the kids a memorable night! Send any donations with your student on April 19th (the same day as prom). We will then take food from Westgate to the Brighton Armory to make sure it is ready in time for the dance. You can also send your students with the food to the event itself!

What: Westgate Prom 2024
Theme: Gothic Literature
Attire: Formal! Please dress up if you plan to attend the event.
When: Friday, April 19th from 7:00 - 11:00
Where: Brighton Armory (300 Strong St, Brighton, CO 80601)
Tickets: $50, with three ways to pay:
  • Pay at the event itself with cash
  • Insert an envelope with cash or check into the slot box inside the first set of main doors at Westgate (make checks out to Westgate Community School with a memo of "Prom." Be sure to put your student's name as well!)
Attendees: All 9th - 12th grade Westgate students are invited! If your student would like to bring a high school guest from a different school, they should check with the front desk for the guest form. Only one guest per Westgate student, please.

This week we will do the addresses activity that was planned for last week's seminar, since we did not get to it because of the group photo.

Yearbooks!

Yearbooks for the 2023-2024 school year are now on sale. Yearbooks are $32 each and a customization can be added to the cover for an additional fee. This week in seminar we will continue working through Colorado State Standards for career readiness with a focus on Information Literacy and the student's experiences with this topic in their academic achievements.

Santa Fe Deposit

I just want to send a quick message to let you know that our deposit deadline for the Santa Fe trip fast approches: it is on March first. It is listed on the school store website. We need to know how many students are officially going so we can plan things like grocery shopping and transportation accordingly. Thanks,
