September 11-15

This week we are practicing RACES reponses as well as continuing our Personal Narratives. Students will finish their rough drafts, edit, peer-review, and produce their final drafts this week! We will continue to read "Save Me a Seat" as well.

Please continue to review the vocabulary words from last week. Students will be tested on Friday.

September 5th-8th

We are learning how to identify the beginning, middle, and end of a story. They will use this knowledge to write their own narratives. They will continue to read "Save Me a Seat" and study their spelling words from last week.

August 28-August 31

Students will work on creating their personal narratives. They will learn how to write a hook and expand on their organizers. We will also move into the second section of "Save Me a Seat".

Our vocabulary words for this week: watch, switch, snatch, match, sketch, twitch, latch, crutch, hatch, and clutch (butcher is a bonus word). Students can practice on A-Z vocabulary.

August 21-25

This week we are learning about our literacy circles! We are continuing to read Save Me a Seat and are learning how to answer comprehension questions based on what we read. We will also begin our character analysis'. Our first spelling test will happen this week with the words:
  • Surname
  • Virtue
  • Genius
  • Pity
  • Accent
It is a short list this week because it is our first test. You can practice at home with the A-Z log-in cards I provided at the beginning of the school year.

August 14-18

Hi! This week we will be learning about our skills coming into 4th grade literacy, as well as what we will do this year. We are going to do a beginning of the year writing assessment as well as MAPS testing. We will also introduce "Save Me a Seat" as our Quarter 1 novel study book.

Later in the week we will talk about our Literacy Circles, which consist of vocabulary/writing, reading, and work with Ms. Rosenblatt.
