Week of January 9th

Welcome back!  I hope you all had a great Winter Break.
 
This week we hit the ground running, as we have a busy semester. 
 
Homework: 
Vocabulary for Unit 5 --- Teams assignment
 
Weekly Agenda:

Thursday: No class -- Adulting 101 rotations

Week of November 28th

Welcome back, I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving Break!
 
We have a very busy next couple of class periods as we wrap up the semester.
 
Homework: Finals Review Packet -- Paper to be passed out in class
 
Weekly Agenda:
Tuesday: Schneider Out; students will receive their review packet for finals and have the class period to study. 
Thursday: Students will have the entire class period to study for their final exam; including a review game they will do at their table.
Friday: Students will have this class period to study for the final as well as working on their one page (single-sided) notes page if wanted for the final exam. 
 
Upcoming Important Dates:
* Tuesday, December 6th -- Semester Final Exam during normal class time
* Wednesday December 7th -- Last day to turn in any missing assignments for a grade
 
This semester students will be able to have one regular size piece of paper (single-sided) of notes for their reference during the final exam.  These will be examined (for single-sided and size) before students receive their exam and are optional. 

Week of November 14th

Diving deeper into space this week.

Thursday:  Modeling Another Solar System Project -- I am out, a substitute teacher will lead the students through this project. 
Friday: NO CLASS due to Hogwarts Day-- Students due have school that day just modified classes.

Students are doing amazing as we begin our exploration of the solar system.

Week of October 3rd

Students are on Fall Break from Westgate until Monday October 17th.  Students who attend FRCC, will still have FRCC classes and busses do not run during this time.

Week of September 26th

This is the last week of quarter 1, but friendly reminder the high school runs on semester grades, so you will not receive a report card at Fall break.

Week of September 19th

This week students will be wrapping up their study of Systems of Matter and Energy in Earth; and taking a pretest for the next unit of Natural Resources. 
 
Homework: 
Unit Performance and Review Worksheet -- passed out in class on Tuesday
 
Weekly Schedule: 
Tuesday: Students will begin work on their individual End of Unit Project  about Carbon Fibers
Thursday: Students will have the first half of class to complete the project before presentations begin. 
Friday: Students will take the Unit 3 Pre-test and any remaining presentations will happen. 
 

Week of September 12th

We will be continuing our study of the Systems of Matter and Energy on Earth.

Week of September 5th

Thursday:  Mineral Identification Lab Lab attire required

Students will be given their Unit 1 Tests back in class on Tuesday the 6th; if they choose to do corrections for questions they missed.  They must write the corrections (in addition to at least one sentence explaining the correct answer) on a separate piece of paper and staple it to their test no later than Tuesday September 13th.  Completing this will allow students to earn back half of the points on each missed question. 

Week of August 29th

Students just completed Unit 1.  Tests will be graded and returned this week.  If a student is unhappy with their grade, they will have one week from the date the test is returned to do corrections.  Corrections must be on a separate piece of paper stapled to the test or assignment with a sentence explaining the correct answer.  This will earn them back half of the missed points.
