Hello 8 grade Social Studies Families!

 

Last week students learned about the history of the Creek, Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw and Seminole tribes and the pressure westward migration of American settlers placed upon their traditional way of life.

 

This week we will explore the topic of removal and what it means to remove a people as we take a closer look at Indian removal policy and how it affected the Cherokee. We will then look at ways these different tribes resisted removal and how hey rebuilt after being removed from their traditional homelands.
