Science 11/28 - 12/2

Hello 8th grade science families!

I hope you had a restful break! As we are finishing up the second quarter, we will be completing a mini unit on work, power and machines. This week, we will:
  • Compare and contrast the different terms
  • Focus on Work and Power, including practice problems
I was not able to update the gradebooks over break so I will be completing that over the course of the week. Students also are given the chance to make up test corrections to increase their score to show their competency. I will take those corrections until the end of this week. They can make them up during academic lab or take them home and work on them. The tests were handed back to them on the Friday before break but I am willing to give them a blank test if they would like to start over as well! Students can make up to 3 on the corrections.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have!

Science 11/14-11/18

  • Specific heat capacity
I am hoping to have this unit wrapped up before we leave for Thanksgiving break. If all goes according to plan, we will review and take our unit assessment next week (11/15 or 11/16). As always, students can make up any missing work or low-scoring assignments during Academic Success Lab or if they finish another assignment early.

Please reach out with any questions and enjoy the 3-day weekend!

Science 10/24 - 10/28

Hello science families!

We had a great start to quarter 2 and are working our way through our energy unit. This week, we are learning about Electromagnetic Energy and Waves.

This quarter, students will have 2 weeks to complete missing assignments before they are given a 1. For assignments that were given before break, they will have until November 4th to make up the assignment. Students will be made aware of this week and will always have time during academic lab to make up missing assignments!

Please reach out with any questions or concerns, have a great week!

Happy Sunday! We had a great week 1. We spent time getting to know each other and had our first STEM lab - an index card challenge where students had to create the tallest tower only using index cards.

This week, we will continue to work on classroom expectations as well as expectations with lab materials. MAP testing will take place on Wednesday, students will take a pre-assessment and we will have our second STEM lab.

I hope you had a great weekend and reach out with any questions!
