Week of Nov. 14

Skills for this week:
Multiplying and Dividing Decimals

Foundation skills to review and practice at home:
Multiplying multi-digit numbers
Long division

If you are helping your child at home, any sound method for doing it by hand is great.
One of the most common mistakes for multiplication is forgetting to multiply all digits by all other digits, and/or leaving out the zero place holders as you multiply.
For long division, it's really important that students keep the numbers in each place value column lined up.

Week of Sept. 25

This week, students will be creating a piece of art and identifying the amount of each color used as fractions and decimals.

Update - Week of Sept. 12

This week we will be continue working on finding factors and multiples, particularly the greatest common factor and least common multiple.
Students will practice applying these concepts in real-world scenarios.

We will have our Unit 1 test on Monday, Sept. 17.

Students are encouraged to use BigIdeasMath.com for additional practice or can ask me for additional paper practice materials to take home.

Another great way to support your student's learning is to practice basic multiplication and division facts for memory and speed.

Weekly Update: Sept. 5-9

Students will be working on prime factorization of numbers and finding greatest common factors.

Please continue to practice identifying prime and composite numbers, identifying perfect squares, use of exponents, order of operations, and basic multiplication and division fact fluency.
