PE 3rd Greder Week 9- 12/14-12/16

Great job this quarter 3rd grade! You guys have blown me away with all the work you guys have been doing. I really enjoyed having you guys in zoom class and cannot wait to have you all in the gym for PE at some point in the future. This week we will be wrapping up the quarter. On Monday, we will be doing our post assessment. We will compare our pre assessment scores to our post assessment scores to see how much we have improved in 8 short weeks. After the post assessment, we will be ‘moving around the house with a purpose’ as the students participate in an around the house scavenger hunt. On Wednesday, I want to hear from you guys! I want everyone to have a turn to share with the class how they, ‘like to be active.’ This is a time to bring in your soccer balls, footballs, scooters, dance shoes, bikes, etc and show the class how you enjoy being physically active and ‘why you think it is important.’

PE 3rd Week 8- 12/7-12/11

Great job last week everyone! I really enjoyed starting our toss and catch challenges and doing a Tabata workout with you all. Thank you to everyone who completed their flipgrid assignment. You guys are getting really good at catching. This week we will be starting our Jump Rope skills. Students will be working through the steps to jump rope and learning different jump rope games. I will make a flipgrid video of some different jump rope leveled challenges and you guys can show me which level you are currently jumping at. We will also start talking about how to read nutrition labels so that you can make health enhancing eating decisions. Don’t forget to complete your Turkey Week Workout challenge and your Toss and Catch Challenges Flipgrid assignments!

PE Greder Week 7- 11/30-12/4

Hope everyone had a wonderfully happy Thanksgiving break, made some healthy eating choices, and continued to stay physically active. This week we starting our tossing and catching challenges. These activities will challenge us to get our hands and eyes to work together. We will be talking about why it is important for your hands and eyes to work together. Not only for sports, but for school and in life. I will be posting a flipgrid assignment where the students can record themselves working through the different challenges. We will also continue talking about and practicing growth mindset. We will be doing a full body Darebee.com workout on Wednesday with the goal being to increase our heart rates for 10-15 mins.

PE Greder Week 6- 11/16-11/19

Great Job last week everyone! Thank you to those who have been completing their flipgrid posts. I have really enjoyed watching those. This week we are going to continue with our hand eye coordination development. We will be playing some tossing games, working to toss with accuracy. We will be doing a full body circuit pattern workout with a goal being to raise our heart rates for 10-12mins. Hopefully we will have time to start our tossing and catching challenges, again working to develop their hand eye coordination. We will be starting to take a look at grit and growth mindset which we will be talking about throughout the rest of the quarter. Grit and growth mindset is something that is not just important in PE but in many contexts in life. Things get tough, being able to think and push through these tough times is what is going to keep us growing into better people and moving forward. Make sure you are not falling too much far behind on your flipgrid assignments!

PE Greder Week 5- 11/9-11/12

Great Job last week everyone! I really enjoyed the Wheel of Fun workout. Thank you to everyone who completed their Spell Your Name workout on Flipgrid, some of you had some tough workouts! Make sure you are drinking plenty of water after each workout and making healthy eating choices.

This week we will be doing our warm up and stretching routine. We will be talking about why it is important to warm up and stretch. We will begin our hand eye coordination challenges this week. We will be working to develop the ability of our hands and eyes to workout together and talking about why it is so important. 

I will be posting a Flipgrid ‘Trick Shot/Trick Catch’ assignment that the students can use to upload a video of their own trick shot/trick catch challenges for their classmates. Also this week, I will also be posting a Flipgrid workout that will focus on building arm and core muscles. I encourage everyone to give it a try at some point this week. I encourage everyone to get outside and play catch with someone! We will continue with our hand eye coordination challenges next week.

This week we will start with a warm up and some stretching. We will be doing a cardio workout that will challenge us to increase our heart rates for 10-15mins. Students will have a Flipgrid Spell your Name workout to complete, the alphabet key will be located in our teams page under files. Each letter is assigned a different exercise. Complete the exercises to spell your name. On Wednesday, students will be participating in a game of Wheel of Fun. We will use the wheel of fun for our workout on Wednesday. For Thursday, I would like everyone to find a workout from the youtuber, THE BODY COACH, and complete the workout. Please locate 1-2 plastic grocery bags for next weeks activities. Bring your paper plates to class!

PE 3rd Greder Week 3- 10.26-10.29

This week we will be spending most all the days in the classroom for PE. We will start with an activity that helps the students understand that it is OK and sometimes really GOOD to make mistakes. Mistakes are hard for everyone but if we understand how to learn from our mistakes, then mistakes can be really GOOD! Students will be sharing a time when they made a mistake and what they learned from that mistake. On Tuesday, the students will spend sometime in class searching for a workout that they will complete at home. I will show them how to navigate through the Darebee.com website to find workouts. Students will video themselves completing the workout on Flipgrid. I will also open up the TRICK SHOT FLIPGRID. We have been watching some Dude Perfect Trick Shot videos at the end of class and this week students will use sometime in class to start planning their own trick shot, which they will do at home. On Thursday, we will be talking about the importance of setting goals, specifically Long term goals vs. short term goals,  for oneself and planning how we can go about achieving those goals this next week!

Watch the video that I posted on our stream page. This will guide you through our daily warm up and stretching routine as well as a workout and activity for the week. Create your flipgrid account(join code located in the posts section on teams) and complete your Flipgrid practice post and Darebee.com workout. Watch Dude Perfect Real Life Trick Shot video on youtube and start thinking about a trick shot that you would like to attempt. There will be a flipgrid post for you to upload your trick shot video to!

3rd Greder Week 2- 10/19-10/23

This week we will begin our classes with some warm up exercises and stretching. On Monday, we will be completing our preassessment and getting some baseline data as for how many push ups, sit ups, and burpees in one minute. We will also be doing this assessment at the end of the quarter to see how much we have improved. Students will be using the rest of the time in class to complete their flipgrid practice post (flipgrid class code and link in TEAMS). On Tuesday, students will be visiting Darebee.com to find a workout to complete on Wednesday. Students will write down the exercise routine, go outside on Wednesday, and complete the workout. After students complete their workouts, we will be doing some relay races. On Thursday, Mr. Wise will be leading the class through a workout and then we will be taking a cool down walk.

This week we will be getting warmed up. It is important to warm up before getting into any type of physical activity. Each day we will be doing a warm up and stretching. It is important to stretch so that you do not hurt any of your muscles. We will be creating our flipgrid accounts and getting familiar with the website. We will be using this website throughout the quarter to turn in assignments. Sign into Flipgrid. Visit Flipgrid.com. Click join with code: enter 4517. Sign in with your MICROSOFT ACCOUNT(school email and PW). We will be going outside and be having a discussion on how we like to be active and what does physical activity look like? If there is time after this conversation we will be doing some sharks and minnows.
