Welcome! At Westgate, students start each day in their Advocacy classes, where they will have the chance to focus on and develop study skills and social and emotional awareness. We will have some overarching themes year round, such as development of academic responsibility, growth mindset, and fostering classroom culture. Each month, we will focus on a specific social or emotional skill. Our weekly advocacy schedule is as follows:Monday: Grade and classroom page checksTuesday: Social/Emotional LearningWednesday: Social/Emotional LearningThursday: Study HallFriday: Quiet TimeOnce we get this schedule underway, look for a weekly email from your student regarding their weekly schedule and weekly grades. If anything is missing, or if students need some help in a specific subject, we will be holding study halls on Thursdays. This is only for 30 minutes, so if a student is pretty far behind, they might need to take some of their work home.Let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to having a great year with all of you!
