Mrs. Novak's Whole Child Ed BLOG
My name is Amanda Novak and I am the 7-12 Assistant Principal at Westgate Community School. Additionally, I direct the Whole Child Education Program which integrates Social Emotional Learning, Physical Education, and Environmental Education into every day learning. I am a mom to my little girl, Avery Grace, and I love the adventure of being a parent. I also love the snow, Harry Potter, running, and the color yellow!
I began my teaching career here at Westgate 6 years ago as Ms. Kudron, and then I joined Teach for America – Denver. I have served as an Academic Advisor, an Activities Director, as well as being a Cross Country and Women’s Track & Field Coach. In my capacity as Advisor and Activities Director, I supported students on their journey to graduation, prepared them for post-secondary readiness, master scheduled, and organized all clubs and events on campus.
In the last few years, we have accomplished amazing things here at Westgate! We've expanded our Social Emotional Learning curriculum through Advocacy and we are now at the forefront of SEL in education. We implemented and continue to refine a strong Peer Mentoring Program and we are already approaching the end of a grant cycle which focuses on Bullying Prevention and Education. I am thrilled to be at Westgate and have the opportunity to pursue the work I am most excited about as a professional. Every student matters every single day.
