5/5 - 5/9

Good Morning!

Happy Tuesday. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

What's on the Docket for this week?

2nd Grade - This week, students will be delving more into patterns and how to create and use patterns in art. We are making their hands filled with zentangle patterns. Students will also use their abstract art knowledge to create a colorful background to contrast their patterned hands.

3rd/4th—This week, we are beginning our self-portraits, where students will be given a photograph of half of their face, and they will have to draw and shade the other half to complete the full image. Students will be learning proportion, scale, value, and gradation.

5th/6th—This week, we are jumping into painting our self-portrait project inspired by the work of Pop Artist Roy Lichenstein. Students will be working in reverse, starting with the details and ending with the full-color backgrounds. Students will be working in a color scheme, painting on transparent paper to achieve the desired effect.

7th/8th - This week, students are finalizing their History of Photography unit, by creating a photograph without a camera. These images are called photograms and use the cyanotype process to complete. We will be finalizing these on Friday since we need direct sunlight to do so. In the meantime, we are going to learn about the photo triad and how each choice an artist makes within the triad effects the outcome of the photograph.
