Please keep an eye out for a lot of communication coming in the near future, conference sign-ups will be coming up soon; and a lot of communication from Westgate as well regarding some fun and unique experiences.

As always if you or your student have any questions please always feel like you can reach out to me at any time.

Week of January 11th

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are adjusting to being back in classes; welcome to Semester 2.

This week there are a few updates:
*No FRCC classes this week.
*Enrichment clubs start
*Work on our Service Learning Project resumes

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Mrs. Schneider

Week of December 14th

Advocacy will be happening on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.   There will be no classes this week; but Teachers will be available in modified office hours in the morning and afternoon.  Students have access to the office hours code on their calendars.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding finals.

Quarter 2 Conferences

Good morning!

Semester 1 conferences are here! Please use the following link to sign up for a conference. Conferences will be held on Thursday, December 17th and on the morning of Friday, December 18th.

The link will be active until Friday, December 11th at 5 PM. You will receive Zoom information to access your conference around that same day.

Conference Signup Link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080E4DA9AF2AA2FE3-quarter5

We have a limited number of spots available, so please sign up quickly. Once all spots are full, we are unable to provide any other times to meet. We are also unable to accommodate anyone who tries to come into conferences without scheduling beforehand.

Each conference will last for 15 minutes. This is what you can expect when you arrive:

1) If you have questions or concerns, we will address those.

2) Each teacher will speak on how your student is doing in their class. If we are low on time after questions, any teachers who have seen your student struggling will speak first.

In order to keep our day running smoothly and ensure all those who signed up can meet with us, conferences will not last longer than 15 minutes. If you have questions at the end that have not been answered, please feel free to email your student’s advocate or individual subject teacher.

Best, and see you at conferences!

Amy Schneider

Week of December 7th

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

The sign-up for end of semester conferences will be emailed out to you at 8 AM on Monday the 7th; I will also post the link on this page.

Finals are in progress for many classes, if you or your student have any questions please feel free to reach out to me or the teacher for that particular class.

Late work for any teacher will not be accepted after December 10th.

Week of November 23rd

Happy Thanksgiving!!! One of my biggest blessings is being able to be an advocate to this amazing group of high schoolers.  I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable week off of school.  Take a break and refresh yourselves.

I will not be answering email over break but will be returning emails on the 30th.

Week of November 9th

Hi,

I wanted to send you a reminder that our students will not be having Westgate Classes on Wednesday the 11th; due to Veteran's Day.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions as we approach the end of the Fall Semester.

Week of November 2nd

Happy November!   This week will be business as usual for the high school as the rest of Westgate transitions to fully distance learning.

I really enjoyed getting to see people today in the different relaxation groups; that is something the high school team is considering continuing into the future. Stay tuned for details.

Enrichment Opportunity for High School Students:

PLUS Club will be offered on Wednesdays from 4-5pm. This club is for 5th-12th graders and will help students see how diversity in a community can add value and positive change that benefit everyone. Because of the variety in people's abilities, identities, cultures, and beliefs communities can learn to strive and survive together by celebrating all of who we are and sharing our true selves with others. Email [email protected] and [email protected] for the Zoom information.

Mrs. Schneider will host Debate Club on Fridays from 2-3pm. This is a chance for students to engage in moderated debates to develop their communication skills and new perspectives on controversial issues. Email [email protected] for the Zoom information.

Mr. Cuevas is hosting a Dungeons and Dragons club on Fridays from 4-5pm. An important note: The group Mr. Cuevas runs is currently full. If you would like to play during this time, you need be able to make a group, and Cuevas will provide the space for you to play with like-minded classmates. Email [email protected] for Zoom information.
