Halloween Party: The link for the Halloween Party sign-ups was emailed. The parties will be Thursday, October 31st from 2:15-3:15. Students should not wear their costumes to school. They should bring their costumes to school and will be able to change right after lunch. Parents that are volunteering for the Halloween Party Must have passed a background check.

Week of 10/14 = Pinocchio Auditions/Rehearsals and Performances
The audition for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of Pinocchio will be held on Monday, October 14th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Westgate. There are roles for those students Kindergarten through 12th Grade! Approximately 50-60 students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Director. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 15-minutes after the audition.

Use of Bicycles, Scooters and Skateboards on Campus
All students must WALK, not ride, their bikes/scooters/skateboard onto or off Westgate’s campus. Students are permitted to ride scooters and skateboards only in the designated area of the blacktop during recess; helmets required. If a student is riding a bicycle, scooter or skateboard on campus outside of recess or a scooter or skateboard outside of the designated area during recess, the vehicle will be confiscated and left at the front desk.
Conference Sign-ups
The sign-up genius for conference sign ups is posted. Please make sure you only sign up for one time slot. You can select multi teachers for that one time slot. Conferences will be held on Sept. 26th and 27th from 8 AM to 8 PM.

-Wednesday / WILD WESTGATE WORKOUT / wear exercise attire or your favorite team jersey and run the obstacle course
-Thursday / WILD HAIR AND HATS / put on a silly hat or style your hair in a crazy way
-Friday / WILD PAJAMAS / wear your pjs to school.

Curriculum Night:
Curriculum Night is a chance for parents to come to hear about what their children will be learning in their literacy, math, science and social studies classes this year. We ask that parents attend without their children so that we can have your full attention and you are able to leave feeling like you have had all your questions answered.

Math and Literacy Placements:
We are planning to start ability grouping this week. Monday, we will switch for Science and Social Studies classes. Tuesday, we will switch for Literacy and Wednesday we will be switching for math. Please keep in mind these are fluid placements which we will talk more about at Curriculum Night

Afternoon Snacks: We do have an afternoon snack time from 1:45-1:55. You are welcome to send a 2nd snack for your child during this time. It’s completely optional.
Picture Day: Your child should have had a picture order form come home in their Friday Folder. If you would like to order pictures for your child, please send this envelope back with your child by Friday, August 16th. You can either pay online or send a check.
Curriculum Night: This year, Curriculum Night for 1st and 2nd grade will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. We have a staggered schedule for different grade levels. Please check the Westgate calendar for more information.
Advocacy Theme: Each month we focus on one aspect of social-emotional development. This month, we are focused on “Starting Strong and Self Awareness”. We will learn about building strong relationships, establishing classroom norms and goal setting.
1st Quarter Club Sign-ups DUE: Friday, August 16th is the deadline to sign up for 1st quarter clubs.
No School: Friday, August 30th there will be no school.
