Science Week of May 15th

This week, we will explore what the sun does for our planet and how the sun impacts the surface of the earth. In addition to this, we will also explore other weather patterns and identify who in our community tells us what the weather will be like day to day. 

Science Week of May 8th

This week in science, we will be starting and finishing our end of year projects! Last week, students chose an animal to choose from: toucan, flamingo, python, and tree frog. 

Science Week of May 1st

This week will be the first of two weeks of working on our end of year research project! This year, we will be creating our projects on an animal that lives in the rainforest. This week, we will create a project on tigers together as a class, the next week students will go solo! 

Science and Social Studies Week of April 24th

We will be working on our service-learning project this week! How exciting! Throughout the year, we've been discussing the needs and wants of our community (including the animals in our environment) and how to be an active community member. All of that work is now coming together in this project. Students will discuss what butterflies need to survive and present how we can support them in our community. 

Science Week of April 17th

This week is Earth Week! We're so excited to learn more about how we can help our planet and become better earthlings! In spirit of Earth week, we will be planting milk weed in support of our service-learning project and clean up parts of the school grounds by picking up trash.

Science Week of April 10th

This week in science, kindergartners will observe their environment on nature walks, evaluate the needs of a plant, and investigate a plant life cycle.

Social Studies Week of April 3rd

We will complete another week of social studies! During this week, students will read books about the power of voting and practice this skill. To do this, we will have a presidential class election! All posters will be made in class and students will present their objectives to their peers. 

Social Studies Week of March 27th

For this week in social studies, we will be exploring economics! Kindergartners will define the vocabulary words goods, services, consumers, and producers through the books 'All About Money' and 'Who's Buying? Who's Selling?'. We will also practice these skills by dividing into groups and roll playing as consumers and producers. 

Social Studies Week of March 6th

This week in social studies, students will practice following multiple step directions to create drawings and crafts. 

Science Week of February 27th

In preparation for our field trip, we will be learning about dinosaurs! Kindergarteners will explore what triceratops, tyrannosaurus rex', brachiosauruses, and stegosauruses needed to survive. 

Social Studies Week of February 21st

In celebration of Black History Month, we will be learning about three idols in history: Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, and Hariet Tubman. On Friday, they will demonstrate their understanding with an assessment. 

Social Studies Week of February 13th

In social studies, we will be celebrating kindness week! Through kindness week, we will explore what it means to be an active and helpful member of our class, our school, and our community. 

Science Week of February 6th

This week in science, we will review our knowledge on different environments. Specifically, the grasslands and mountains. From there, we will dive into ecosystems and discuss how the living organisms within the ecosystem impact one another. 

Social Studies Week of January 30th

This week in social studies we will be exploring different environments and discuss the comparisons and contrasts between them and Colorado. This will include shelter, food, and clothing. 

Science Week of January 23rd

This week, kindergarteners will be exploring forces and motion. Students will identify objects that can be pulled or pushed, describe what happens when objects collide, and discuss what happens when a force is applied to an object.
