PE 4th Week 9- 3/8-3/11

This week please find the video recording on our stream channel. It will detail the activities for the week and, hopefully, answer any questions you might have. Everyday, warm up and stretch. On Monday, check out our Trick Shot Flipgrid post. Watch the video that is attached for some inspiration. Then go and record your own attempt at a trick shot. It is ok if you mess up! On Tuesday, visit our teams page and click on FILES. Under files you will find several darebee.com workouts. Select  the one that seems interesting to you and complete level 1. Feel free to visit Darebee.com to find a different workout, if you do not like the ones that I put on our teams page. On Wednesday, I would like you to revisit our Spell Your Name workout Flipgrid. If you have not completed YOUR name yet, do that! If you have completed your name, do the name of your best friend, favorite cousin, or grandma. Have mom and dad join you and spell their names! On Thursday, I would like everyone to check out The Body Coach TV on youtube. He has a great Beginner Exercise series filled with 15min exercises. I encourage you to check those out and find one that you want to do. Tell me the name of the workout video you did and your heart rate before and after. Have a great week! 

PE 4th Week 8- 3/1-3/5

This week we will continue with our warm up and stretching routine. Students will use their physical activity log located in their class notebook to help them plan/track their physical activity each day. We will be doing a jump rope workout, do not worry if you cannot jump rope yet, we will be using the jump rope as a tool during our workout. After the workout, we will start jumping rope. Students have a flipgrid Jump Rope Challenges workout that they should complete. This assignment will give me an idea of your current jump rope level of expertise, if you can only do level 1 that is fine! I just want to see where you are with your skills. Remember, you are not going to get better at jumping rope if you only practice during PE. Set aside 4-5 mins a day, put it in your class notebook physical activity log, to practice your jump rope skills.  

PE 4th Week 7- 2/22-2/26

This week we will continue with our warm up and stretching routine. We will continue our growth mindset conversation and we will be looking at how different mindsets view mistakes and challenges. We will be comparing how someone with a fixed mindset handles mistake and challenges to how someone with growth mindset handle mistakes and challenges. We will be listening to a PODCAST about how to respond to mistakes. Students will be asked to reflect on times when they might have made a mistake and what they learned from it. Students will be completing a Darebee.com workout that will challenge them to increase their heart rates for 10-12 mins.  

PE 4th Week 6- 2/15-2/19

Great job last week. I really enjoyed talking about Growth Mindset with everyone. This week we will continue with our warm up and stretching routines. We will be doing our dynamic stretching routine this week as we work to warm up our core body temp and stretch our muscles at the same time. This week, I will be leading the students through a full body cardio workout with the goal being to increase our heart rates for 10-15mins. We will be tracking our heart rates and using that data to determine how effective our workout/effort was during the workout. Students should continue to fill out their daily physical activity form online in their class notebook. We will only be having PE twice this week so you will need to come up with other physical activities to meet your goal of 60mins a day. Let me know if you need physical activity ideas!  

PE 4th Week 5- 2/8-2/12

This week we will be continuing with our warm up and stretching routines. Students will be participating in a Tabata timer workout with the goal being to increase our heart rates for 10-15 mins. This will be a preview of next weeks assignment where students will be doing a Tabata Timer workout on their own. We will begin talking about growth mindset, what is it? How do you get it? Why is it good? We will be watching a Growth Mindset video that will answer many of these questions. Then we will talk about why it is so important to have a growth mindset, especially in school. There will be a flipgrid assignment that goes along with this video and students will answer several comprehension questions about growth mindset. If you have not, completed last weeks Hand Eye Coordination Challenges flipgrid, make sure you do that!  

PE 4th Week 4- 2/1-2/5

This week we will be continuing with our hand eye coordination challenges. Students should complete the flipgrid  Hand Eye Coordination Challenges assignment posted on teams AND respond to one other students video giving them some feedback on their challenges. We will be discussing what constructive feedback is and practicing by giving each other constructive feedback on their flipgrid videos. I will be showing students the website Darebee.com and all the great resources that it has available for them. We will then select one of the workouts and complete it. This will be a preview of next weeks flipgrid assignment where students select one of their own darebee.com workouts, complete it, and share it with the class.  

PE 4th Week 3- 1/25-1/29

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and found some time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. This week we will be continuing with our warm up and stretching routines. On Monday, we will be starting our hand eye coordination challenges. Students will need to bring their ball to class. We will be doing some whole class toss and catch challenges working to develop our hand eye coordination. On Thursday, we will be talking about how exercise affects the brain and can help make you a better student in school! We will then finish up with an around the house scavenger hunt activity designed to get the body moving and blood pumping! 

PE 4th Week 2- 1/19-1/22

Great Job last week everyone! I really enjoyed seeing everyone’s practice flipgrid posts. Thank you for sharing those with us. This week I want to remind you that your Darebee.com Flipgrid Post is due on Friday 1/22. We went over this in class last week (1/13). Email me if you have questions, or watch a few of your classmates responses. You DO NOT need to record your workout. On Wednesday, we will be having a class discussion on the benefits of physical activity(Physical, Mental, Emotional) and what wellness means. We will finish up class a round of RPS PE style.

PE 4th 1/11-1/14

It was so nice to see most everyone on Wednesday! I hope everyone stayed active over the weekend and made some healthy eating choices. This week we are going to jump right into things! We will be starting our classes with a warm up and stretching routine. On Monday, we will be completing our PreAssessment located in the class notebook within TEAMS. We will be getting some baseline data on our muscular strength and endurance and tracking our improvement as we go along this quarter. We will finish up on Monday with some Rock Paper Scissor PE style. On Wednesday, we will be talking about how to use your heart rate to tell if you are having a good workout. We will be talking about maximum heart rate as well as resting heart rate. We will check our heart rate before our workout and then immediately after our workout to see if we were able to increase our hear rate. Students will be asked to finish up their FLIPGRID PRACTICE POST, from last week, and complete the FLIPGRID DAREBEE.COM workout post.
