4th Grade Music Week of 3/8

Online Week.

Here's what to expect:

You will have 2 main assignments to turn in this week.  They will post on Monday and then on Wednesday in Teams.

Here is a good way to space the assignments throughout the week:

Monday: Music and the Brain worksheet in Teams

Tuesday: Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHad-I5AJT0 and clap and count.  Test your skills, can you follow along at 2 times the speed? (adjust in settings). Try the next video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf5rcXhGPps

Wednesday: Chrome Music Lab assignment in Teams.

Thursday: Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTUXC_O2FI8 and clap and count the rhythms.  If you're able to, turn up the speed.  Are you able to clap along with the intermediate level rhythms here? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVeh0oVrKOk

4th Grade Music Week of 2/22

This week, we will continue our work with rhythms and begin to mix in the notes of the treble clef.

You will create your own rhythms and your own melodies and we will "perform" them as a class.

We will create our melodies using musicplayonline.com and the treble clef.

4th Grade Music Week of 2-8

Hey everyone!

This week, we'll be continuing our rhythm practice.  We will review rhythmic dictation by listening to some rhythms and choosing out of three possible rhythms.

We will also be working more on Ah, Poor Bird.  We will review how to sing a round and this week will be focused on singing technique and posture.

You sounded amazing last week, now we work on phrasing, dynamics and tempo through proper technique.

I apologize for all the technical difficulties we experienced this past week for online students.  We are working those issues out.  I appreciate your patience.

4th Grade Music week of 2-1

Hello everyone! Welcome back to school.

This week begins synchronous learning. For online students, stay logged in to Mr. Baldwin's zoom link.  He will also be posting music class on his page.

Class is from 1:30-2:30PM Monday - Thursday.

Here's what to expect:

Monday: We will do recorder karate, BUT we will do so WITHOUT recorders.  We will read the notes, use our fingers to match a "recorder", and sing the notes together.  Those at home may play recorder.

Tuesday: We will continue with recorder-less karate - moving to the 3rd and 4th belts.  The 4th belt is the first one with eighth note rhythms.

Wednesday: You will begin earning of belts, but you will earn it by clapping and counting the rhythms correctly, then showing me how to play each note.

Thursday: After a review of this week's belts, rhythms, and new musical concepts (half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, breath marks, patterns), we will watch some recorder videos and cool music/science videos.

4th Grade Music Week of 1-25

This week:

Monday: We will go over the first belt, then quickly move to the 2nd belt.  We will count and clap the rhythms first, then say and sing the notes while using our fingers on the recorder, then play it.

Tuesday:  Make sure you're practicing recorder songs by learning the rhythms first.  Keep a steady tempo by tapping your foot.

Wednesday:  We will go over the 2nd belt, then the 3rd.  We will use the same practice method we've learned.  I will then take volunteers to play for the class.

Thursday:  Keep working on your recorder, and don't give up when it's difficult. Practice slowly and learn one note at a time.

4th Grade Music Week of 1/19

Hello everyone!

This week:

Tuesday: Check Teams and flipgrid and make sure you've attempted your 1st assignment.

Wednesday: We will review the white belt and then start the yellow belt.  I'll have volunteers play for the class.

Thursday: Check teams for your next assignment and try to complete the yellow belt.

4th Grade Music Week of 1/11

This week:

Monday - Zoomclass at 1:45 PM.  We will begin with recorder technique (how to hold, play, change notes).  Then I'll show you where to find the music and finger chart.

Tuesday - Make sure you can answer: what hand goes on top for recorder? How do you play "B" on the recorder?  How do you play "A"? How do you play "G"?

Wednesday - Zoom at 1:45PM.  Hot cross buns lesson, then volunteer for playing in class.

Thursday - Can you play the 1st belt?  If so, how many belts can you play with no mistakes?
