PE 7th Kaplan Week 9- 12/14-12/16

Great job this quarter. I really enjoyed having everyone in zoom class and cannot wait to have everyone back in the gym for PE sometime in the future. This week we will be wrapping up with our final warm up and stretch. We will then complete our post assessment. We will set the timer for 1 minute and see how many of each (pushup, sit up, burpee) we can do in a minute. We will then compare these scores to the pre assessment to see if/how much we have improved our muscular strength and endurance in only 8 short weeks. We will then finish our Jeopardy review workout activity that we started last week. Stay active and stay Healthy!

PE 7th Week 8-12/7-12/11

Missing WORK DUE MONDAY!

 

Great job last week. I really enjoyed looking at everyones Tabata workouts that they put together. This week we will be getting started with a warm up and stretch. We will then finish up our Jeopardy review game and use the Tabatas that you all put together to get a little workout in. On Thursday, students will be participating in a scavenger hunt with the goal being to get up and move with a purpose, around the house. We will be completing our post assessment and looking at how much we have (hopefully) improved over the quarter. Please make sure I get your missing assignments by Monday!

PE Kaplan Week 7- 11/30-12/4

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. This week we will continue with our warm up and stretching routine. We will start Tuesdays class with a grade check, everyone will have to log into IC and email me the list of assignments that they may or may not be missing. We have just a few weeks left and I don’t want anyone to fall further behind. We will then be completing a Darebee.com full body workout with the goal being to increase our heart rates for 12-15mins.  On Thursday,   I will be showing the students Wikimuscles, which is a website that allows you to click on a muscle in the body and then shows you how to exercise that specific muscle group. We will finish up this class with a cardio workout again working to keep our heart rates increased for 12-15mins.

PE Kaplan Week 6- 11/16-11/19

Great job last week everyone. I really enjoyed sharing the circuit patter workout. We will continue with our warm up and stretching routine. We will continue to talk about the many mental health benefits of being physically active and the students will be putting together an exercise log/schedule for the week. We will start this in class on Tuesday, the students will need to put together 2 workouts that they will complete during the week. While the students are working on their workout schedule for the week, I will be showing them the TABATA timer website, which they can use for their own workouts this week. We will then spend the last 10-12 minutes of class using the Tabata timer and working to understand how to create your own TABATA workout. We will also be doing a yoga workout to warp up the week with the goal being to build our muscles by holding our body weight in different positions focusing on a strong foundation while working to clear our minds of the daily stresses and anxieties.  

PE Kaplan Week 5- 11/9-11/12

Great Job last week! Thank you to everyone who shared their workouts and those who went above and beyond and uploaded multiple workouts!
 
This week we will be doing our warm up and stretching routine. We will also be watching a TedTalk by neuroscientist, Wendy Suzuki, on the importance of physical activity/exercise for the health of the brain. We will learn about the many mental health benefits of physical activity, what is actually happening in the brain while you workout, and how that impacts your mental health. After listening to the Tedtalk students will be completing a flipgrid assignment sharing what they found interesting from the talk.
 
We will also be doing a full body workout on Thursday with a goal to be in the moderate to intense heart rate zone for about 15mins. After the workout, students will reflect on their week and complete an exit slip for the week.

PE 7th Kaplan Week 4- 11/2-11/5

This week we will continue to start class with a warm up and our stretching routine. This week we will be doing our Dynamic Stretching routine. A dynamic stretching routine, not only stretches the muscles, but also increases the bodies core temperature and serves as another warm up. On Tuesday students will be exploring Darebee.com. I will show them the website and walk them through how to navigate. They will be tasked with finding two workouts, or their choice, and completing the corresponding flipgrid assignment. They will have to tell me the name of the work out they choose, film themselves doing the workout, and then they will reflect on the effectiveness of their workout and answer the following questions: Did you feel this workout was beneficial for you? Why or why not? What was the hardest part of this workout? Why do you think this was so difficult? Would you choose to do this workout again.

On Thursday, we will be doing a full class workout with the goal being to participate in 15mins of continuous physical activity at a moderate to vigorous intensity.

PE Kaplan Week 3- 10/23-10/26

This week we will start each class with a warm up activity and stretching. I will guide the students through a full body cardio workout. Students will have a Darebee.com flipgrid workout assignment to complete (very similar to last week, but select a different workout) Remember, your workout should challenge you to increase your heart rate for about 10-15 minutes. Complete level one of the workout that you choose. On Thursday, we will be getting warmed up and stretched out, I will lead the class through a yoga flow workout, that will challenge the students to support their body weight in different positions focusing on developing a strong foundation. Students will also being their inter class workout competition. I will make the flipgrid active this week and you can start earning points for your team.

PE 7th Kaplan Week 2- 10/19-10/23

This week we will start our classes with some warm up exercises and stretching. On Monday we will be going outside to complete our preassessment. We will be seeing how many pushup, burpees, and sit ups we can do of each in 1minute. This will give us some baseline data to go off of. At the end of the quarter we will complete the same assessment and compare our scores to see how much we have improved. After completing the assessment, students will come inside and complete their Flipgrid Practice Post. On Wednesday I will guide the students through a 10-15min workout. After the workout students will go into Flipgrid and respond to one other classmates post. Students will visit Darebee.com and find one workout that they think will challenge them to increase their heart rates for 15mins. Students will use this workout from Darebee.com to complete their flipgrid post Darebee.com Workout #1. If there is time left over, we will be going outside to take a walk.

This week we will be getting signed into Everfi and Teams and Flipgrid. We will be navigating through these platforms and I will be showing the students where to locate everything/ where everything can be found for the next quarter. We will go around sharing what we plan to do to be active for the weekend. If there is time left over, we will be going outside to play some sharks and minnows. Sign into Flipgrid and create an account. . Visit Flipgrid.com. Click join with code: enter 7445. Sign in with your MICROSOFT ACCOUNT(school email and PW).

 

5th Online- Log into teams read the most recent posts. Check here often for assignments and class agendas.  Create your everfi account. Visit platform.everfi.net. create an account using your Microsoft Log in, school email. I will be posting the class join code on TEAMS.
