PE K1 ChalKenn Week 9- 12/14-12/16

Great job this quarter everyone! I really enjoyed having you all in zoom class and cannot wait to have you all in the gym for PE at some point in the future. This week we will be getting warmed up and stretched out. We will then finish our Wheel of Fun Q2 review game. Please make sure you bring your jump rope, ball, and paper plates to class so that we are ready to go! On Wednesday, I want to hear from you guys! I want everyone to have a turn to share how they, ‘like to be physically active.’ Bring in your soccer balls, scooters, jump ropes, dance shoes, and share with the class all the ways you like to be active!

PE K1 Week 8- 12/7-12/11

Great job last week Kinder and 1st grade. I really enjoyed doing our toss challenges with you all and learning about how to read a nutrition label. This week, we will continue to focus on developing our hand eye coordination. Students will be working through our Toss and Catch challenges. You can use your ball for these but it will be a little hard. It will be much easier is everyone has a plastic grocery bag to use, for the start. We will work through the first few levels in class and then I will make a seesaw activity and you guys can show me how your are practicing and working through the levels. On Wednesday, we will start our Wheel Of Fun review game which we will use to help us review all the skills we have learned so far in PE.

PE ChalKen Week 7-11/30-12/4

Hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving, made some healthy eating choices for dinner, and continued to stay physically active!  This week we will be working on our hand eye coordination by participating in some ‘Tossing’ challenges. These activities will challenge your hands and eyes to work together to get the ball to land where you want it to land. I will show the students several tossing games that they can play outside of class to practice this skill. We will also continue talking about the heart, how to take care of it, and why it is so important. We will be doing a full body workout focusing on getting our bodies to move the way we want them to move while working to built strong muscles and bones.  For next week, please find two plastic grocery bags and bring them with to class.

PE ChalKen Week 6-11/16-11/19

Great job last week everyone. Remember to keep drinking 5-8 cups of water a day! This week we will be continuing our warm up and stretching routine. We will also begin talking about the heart and how to keep your heart healthy. We will be starting our hand eye coordination activities and working to develop our ability to ROLL with accuracy. We will be talking about what hand eye coordination is and how it will help you. We will be doing some rolling games working to get the students to use their hands and eyes to get the ball to roll to the target. I will continue to post our Water Drinking activity on seesaw this week. The goal of this activity is to remind you to drink water throughout the day to keep your body and brain healthy and ready for learning.

PE ChalKen Week 5- 11/9-11/12

This week we will continue with our warm up and stretching routine. I encourage everyone to try and make this a daily routine. We will also continue to work to develop our jump roping skills. Students will be practicing some jump roping skills in class this week.  I will post a seesaw activity that asks you to show me your jump roping skills. For this assignment, I am not expecting you to be able to jump rope, rather I want to see what level you are currently at and give you some simple feedback to help push you to the next level. Keep on practicing! We will also be doing a workout that will focus on controlling our bodies and using our body weight to build our muscles. If we have time, we will begin talking about the importance of drinking water and why your body needs a lot of water to stay healthy. If not, next week!

Great Job last week everyone! I really enjoyed seeing everyone and doing some physical activity together. I hope you guys enjoyed your weekends and continued to be active!

This week we are going to start out with some Hop, Skip, Jump, Slide relays(make sure you have a little space to run back and forth). Then we will start learning how to jump rope. It is going to be hard at first but follow along with me step by step and keep practicing, it will get easier! On Wednesday, we will be doing another little workout and then practicing our jump rope skills. I will show you some jump rope games to play at home.

PE K1 ChalKen Week 3- 10/23-10/26

Great Job last week. It was so nice having everyone in class and being able to get outside to do some of our activities. This week is going to be a little chilly so I am not sure we will be able to make it outside for our activities. This week we will be doing some listening activities in the classroom. That will challenge you to use your listening skills to identify the object/animal that is making the noise. We will also be doing yoga several times this week. Since we cannot get outside to complete our workouts, we will be learning a different type of workout called Yoga. Yoga will challenge the students to hold their body weight in different positions and help develop a strong foundation. We will also be playing some Simon Says to continue to develop those listening skills. On Friday, we will be having a small ‘talent show’ where students can show us cool stretches and workouts that they know how to do.

Online Students:

This week I would like you to do your stretching routine and a warm up activity everyday. Watch the video that is posted in your Seesaw activities page. This video will guide you through a set of warm up activities and the stretching routine. Do these everyday! In this weeks video I will also guide you through a workout and give you a movement game to play called 'UNLOCK MY IPHONE'. You will need 10 paper plates or pieces of paper labeled 0-9 for this activity. Practice these things everyday! I will also create an activity that you will be able to upload a picture of yourself being active this week. Post your picture and show us how you like to be active!

K1 ChalKen Week 2- 10/19-10/23

This week we will be starting our classes with a some warm up exercises and stretching. We will then get into our body control and hop, skip, jump activities. On Monday we will be going outside and the students will be participating in some relay races challenging them to hop, skip, and jump. We will also be doing a game called ‘Move Like A…’ it is a body control game where the students are challenged to move their bodies like different animals and machines. If we have time, we will do  “Move like A..” charades game. On Wednesday we will be doing a guided workout. Mr. Wise will lead the students through a full body workout. Be sure to bring a water bottle! On Thursday, we will take a mindfulness break and completing a Cosmic Kids yoga workout video.

This week we will be getting warmed up. It is important to warm up before getting into any type of physical activity. Each day we will be doing a warm up and stretching. It is important to stretch so that you do not hurt any of your muscles. We will stretch our muscles and then we will be doing some simon says working to follow multi step directions and getting your body to move how you want it to.
